Windscreen Washer Pump Question

My M4 Windscreen Water Washer is not working, but the Headlamp Water Washer is working.
I am trying to find out if I need a new Windscreen pump, but if the headlamp pump is the same pump then I am guessing it may not be a pump issue.
When I try to use the front screen water washer I cannot hear the pump trying to work, so does the headlamp have a separate pump, which I guess means I need a new one.
If it uses the same pump Im confused as to why the headlamps work but the windscreen doesnt or not even make a noise that it is trying to pump water and then be a pipe blockage.

There are two pumps as shown in the photo. The lower one is the windscreen and usually stops working because the filter becomes blocked.

If you can’t hear the pump running mostly likely it’s failed rather than blocked filter.

How does one go about unblocking it?

On the 4 series models you need to remove wheel, arch liner, plastic vent trim on wing to gain access to the fixing bolts.

This was the state of my filter when removed.

Or just use drain cleaner.
Search the uk F30 section. There’s lots of threads about it. If you also include my id in the search youll find a step by step, avoiding any chance of contaminating your paintwork
