How often do you recharge your k&n filters. I didn’t log the mileage, but the system was first installed last June of 2023. I got the filter charger kit to clean and reoil it… just want to know when it would be most standard to use it?

The k&n reading material says you can wait 50k mile, lol. I’m not waiting that long.

Have you pulled them and inspected them yet? They probably are not super dirty

Would not recommend oil filters as over time this gets into the engine intake air system

I’m not disagreeing with you but this is one of the topics where there are ardent supporters on both sides and neither will listen to reason.

Without an oil catch can, BMW does a good job of putting oil into the intake system

Correct but many don’t install one hence just gets sucked in as many don’t know how much oil to put onto the filter either 😬

I plan to let the filter sit after being oiled for a couple of hours.. I also will wipe away any excess oil. I’ll go light on the oil, but just wondering how often. Don’t think I want to open up just to inspect, haha… if everything is pulled apart, I might as well clean and oil it.

Isn’t there a good rule of thumb for how of doing often to recharge the k&n’s? I’m in northern ca if that means anything. Hah

My rule of thumb is every oil change(5k), I inspect and clean as needed.

i put a filter wrap on my K & N to hopefully keep it cleaner and add some water resistance on the front mount intake.
