My car was assembled July 12th but was kept at the plant until last week when it was finally released to carrier. I'm still unclear why it was held back, was told it wasn't affected by the diff issue Anyways, it's on the Tortugas now and should be in Halifax on September 12 so thinking I should be sitting in it by September 30

My M3 was on the Porgy which arrived in Halifax as scheduled on Aug 22. It was held at the VPC until yesterday the 30th. It's now on a truck to my dealer. Finally looking forward to re-delivery this week!!

Just one additional data point on what to expect for timing.

Thank you for this information, it was more useful than calling BMW.

Only a week into placing the order and reading this shows me how far off I really am. I think I actually cried for a second..

Yeah, it's a long agonizing wait. I ordered my car in late June and was supposed to take delivery late August but my vehicle was affected by the recent 'stop delivery' due to rear diff.

My vehicle finally landed in Halifax yesterday and it will prop be a few more weeks before it arrives at my dealer.

Dealer just advised me October production and said I should have it before Xmas holidays. Argh, this sucks but will make it worthwhile. I already went through this on my S4 last year and this time it's more agonizing.

So basically it was around 2.5 months for you. Nice considering the circumstances. Post a pic and congrats!

I count the number of gas station trips I need to make in my temporary vehicle until November - the ETA for my build. I'm at 2 of an estimated 5 pumps.

I need to hear more people with longer wait times so that mine will feel shorter.

I ordered mine on July 7th. There were no July, Aug or Sept allocations. Scheduled for first week of October production. My car is currently in status 112, which hopefully means production starts soon.

Probably looking at a mid-November delivery.

How's that for a long wait?

Geez, that's just wrong. I feel for you especially since the summer came and went with no movement. I'm assuming you bought it at a smaller dealership with fewer allocations? I still have 2-4 weeks until build time so we might even be on the same boat. What options did you have on your build?

Actually mine was at a large dealership. Parkview. They just didn't have allocations. I missed the July allocation when I did the deal. The August one was already taken. I think for the dealership's launch car. And September was reserved for the 30th anniversary edition. I think this dealership gets one M3 and one M4 allocation a month.

I went with premium package, smartphone package, universal remote and CF trim. Pretty bare bones.

Yeah you didn't goto an M dealer. 1 allocation per month is horrible.

It does sound low even though I don't really know what a higher number should be. I can't believe how long your wait will be once it finally comes in. Hope it turns out for you. I went to Canbec here in Montreal and they are pretty big and just assumed that they have larger allotments. My salesman once had one delivered in 6 weeks once but I'm assuming that they just got the order in to an allocation that was already in line.

I can't wait until I get the Vin, let alone the car.

Yeah. My assumption is 1 per month, but I could be wrong. This was just based on my personal experience. This was my first BMW purchase ever. And actually first time I have ever ordered a car. I usually purchase end of year inventory leftovers, so I was a complete noob to the process. Guess I should've done more research when it came to ordering a BMW. I assumed the dealership I was working with would be able to get an M3 pretty quickly since they are one of the larger ones in the GTA. Funny thing is this dealer has an M performance shop inside. Lot's of M cars. Just not an M3.

At first the long wait bothered me, but then I looked at the bright side. My current ride is a 2014 S4. I've only had it for a couple of years and it's a great car. It gives me a little more time to enjoy the car before trading up to the M3.

I just sold my 15' B8.5 (had a 13' one too) so I know the feeling. I'm anxious to try something different and want to do it before snow hits the ground. I hope you get yours quickly since your wait has been beyond long but enjoy the S4. I loved both of mine but the time was right to move on and got out of my lease with no penalty.

Wanted to take a minute and thank all you guys on this thread that helped me track the car and answered so well all the questions and comments. Greatly appreciated. Car finally hit the dealer today. Pickup, sometime next week, but at least its here! Thanks again everyone. No more tracking now, time to start finally enjoying!

Production date question

I just got my vin and noticed my production date as 0001-01-01? Does that mean production starts in January, say it ain't so!
