Any former e92 M3 guys on F80 M3/M4? Worth it?
Got a 2011 e92 M3 DCT, love the look of the new F82 M4 but will I be missing anything moving to the m4?
Thoughts? Suggestions? Edit: Besides that V8... Last edited by Spacedragon; 08-30-2016 at 10:11 AM.. |

This topic has been discussed ad nauseum! I'm one of the former members, and the cliff notes are: - The F8X M is superior in pretty much every aspect of the car, compared to the E9X M... Looks, acceleration, power, performance, interior, etc. The one area I (and several ex-E9X owners) kinda miss my car was the intoxicating sound and throttle response of the S65 engine, BUT, overall I'm very happy with the car.

Another E92 convert here. I also had a 2011 DCT. I've only out around 600 miles on my F82 (redelivery on 9/13), but in that time I can say it's a great upgrade in almost every way.

Had a 2011 E92 ZCP a couple of years ago. Between that and the M4 (mind you mine is a convertible) the M4 absolutely walks the older one and it's not even close. Engine sound the E9X still sounds superior.

I had a sparkling graphite '08 e92 and a mineral white '12 e92 ZCP w/ MPE. I've had a '15 f80 for a year and a half and while superior in many ways as said before, I miss the sounds and steering of the e92. But I have 3 small kids and need four doors and '11 e90's are hard to find and nearly 6 years old. Thinking of putting 2 of the 3 up for adoption and getting a gt4.

I owned 2 E92s and currently own an F82. As far as performance is concerned, they are in completely different leagues. The F82 drives better in just about every imaginable way. The only category I give the E82 an edge in is the looks department. Quite honestly, I think the E92 is a bit more handsome. That being said, it's just my opinion. The interior aesthetics are far better in the F82 and the performance isn't comparable.

I moved from an M3 E93 to a M4 F83. What can I say? The M4 is lightyears ahead in terms of acceleration and overall power.
But I really missed my n/a V8 an the linear power output. After a few weeks of ownership, I startet modding the F83 with a serious m performance treatment, but in the end the car doesn´t satisfy my needs in terms of a sports car. In the end I leased a Jaguar F T-Type R Coupé on top. And I really like this car . |

I had a E92 M3, and now a E90 M3. I decided to keep it because I love the way the car drives and sounds. I have the F80 M3 and it is a improvement in every single department when you compare it to the E90. I will say there are those days I drive the E90 and get the low tone humm, that can only come from the V8. Other than that the F80 sounds amazing in its own way, and definitely pulls like a freight train compared to the E90. The F80 also allows me to have fun on the roads at fairly legal speeds. The E90 would literally cause me to drive at speeds that could turn out to be my last drive, I kid. But the F80s torque, and the way it comes on is definitely a game changer. I would say if you never owned a E90/92 M3, I would recommend getting it and driving it for a while. If you've owned/driven the E90 and are bored or want something different, the F80 will aim to please IMO.

What I miss? Besides the V8 Sound? The smaller sleeker body and bulging hood of the E92. I kept my 2011 M3 DCT ZCP too but rarely drive it now. When I do, it feels sluggish and heavy compared to the M4. Whatever you do, make sure you get the MPE exhaust if you don't do ZCP or if you have the money i heard MPE+ZCP is very nice. The extra exhaust note will make you forget of the V8 sound.

Sorry to say that, but the M4 can´t beat the E92/93 in the sound department. Especially if you ever heard the intake sound sitting inside an E93 .
In every other aspect the M4 wins hands down. |

The only thing you'll miss is the exhaust note and DCT downshift sound. Everything else is superior.
