Technically you are supposed to register the battery every time you change it. With that said I think you could just drop this in but I would have to confirm that.

I am putting some aerocatch hood latches in.

1. Is there a reason you installed the pins inboard of the GT4 mounting position?

2. How did you solve the hood latch warning?

please do not follow my hood latch location and use the GT4 mounting points/location - mine was a result of a mistake (story for another day/thread)

for the hood latch, there is a small sensor that was removed from the hood latch and I believe it was hard closed

Just popped the sensor off the latch. It’s a simple mechanical switch. Easy stuff. Thanks!

Also, found this nugget from Turner regarding Braille lithium batts.

"When installing a lithium battery in a BMW that requires the battery to be coded in, Braille recommends setting the battery code to the lowest/smallest AGM battery setting possible."

From ISTA:

Vehicles with energy management systems (IBS, power module): Register battery exchange

The vehicle electrical system is informed about the vehicle battery characteristic data, such as type, size, age and current power capacity. Therefore, there will always be only one work scope provided that is permitted by the current status of information.

If the performance readiness drops below a defined minimum, a Check Control message will be generated to advise the driver that the battery must be replaced.

When installing a new vehicle battery, the battery must be registered and thus must also be registered with the vehicle electrical system.

That said, no major changes to the car…however, did start noticing an issue at high rpm; car made weird noise when on the throttle over 5-6K rpm - sounded like a balloon farting (sorry only reference I could come up with)

Talked to a few people and they all referenced that there is some leak around the charge air system.

Tried to visually / physically diagnose it, and everything pointed to the cold side of the cooler. The j-pipe specifically seemed loose/worn out at the throttle body connection.

Anyhow, decided to replace the j-pipe with the Evolution Racing piece (recommended by bimmerworld) and the bit the bullet and replaced the charge cooler while at it with the Bimmerworld / PWR unit. I have not done any cooling mods to date; so this the first piece. Will replace the rest of the coolers overtime.

Back out at Willow Springs next weekend - looking forward to testing with the upgrades.

Enjoy the few pics for reference - let’s see if you can spot the infamous bimmerworld haribo gummies
Did replacing the J pipe get rid of that balloon noise you were referring to? I think I have the same thing going on. At high tpms I hear what sounds like bubbles popping. Just like you it's hard to explain the noise. Lol

Yes, the noise went away. I did replace both the factory top charge cooler and j-pipe.

One of the two fixed the issue...I say this, because, I did notice a slight crack in the plastic section of the factory charge cooler.

Got the battery and the IBS cable, going to try to install today.

Took a couple of hours putting a bracket together…

Time to run the test…stay tuned.
