$7500 for BMW MPE installed, alternatives?

I've a ZCP F80. My dealer quotes me $7500 for the BMW performance exhaust installed (tax included) which is not too bad. But hell, that's a lot of money.

So, I was thinking about getting the Active Autowerke midpipe, which seems to work fine with an otherwise stock ZCP car (see Active Autowerke | F80 M3 ZCP With AA Midpipe *video*.

That's $1,199.00 plus installation. Quite a bit cheaper! I'm leaning towards this but the problem is finding an installer around the Seattle, WA area.

Anyone got any tips on a reputable suitable installer?

Many thanks

Might try a different dealership. Ymmv but I found one in San Diego for $4.5k installed without tips. There's probably more than one BMW dealer in the Seattle area. Warranty on both the install and parts this way, if that matters to you.

If you go to bmwusa.com, you can order the exhaust, checkout and choose a dealer. You will have the option to have it installed by that dealer you selected. It will give you a total price WITH installation. That should be your starting point.

Bro. Get and AWE non-Res. It TRULY is the best sounding exhaust for the M4. I've had mine for a little over 2 years.....it rocks. Then get a BPM Tune. best there is and completely customizable.

The AWE SwitchPath is an awesome Exhaust! Our most popular for sure for the M3/ M4.

Resonated if getting downpipes

Non-REsonated if keeping stock downpipes

AchTuning in redmond Do VF Tunes and I believe work with AWE a lot.

I don't know about $7500

AWE sounds pretty damn good for less than half the cost ($3500) of an MPE that it's known to crack.

try out the aa mid pipe and get a valve controller. you always have a lot of options after that if your not satisfied. Otherwise get a akrapovic evo / mpe if you want to stay oem.

Fact is most reputable cat backs will be a step up its just finding one that suits your personal taste and budget. Some are Loud , some are deep etc also videos don't capture the exhaust on a m3 well say what you will, they sound much much better in flesh.

we sell those at a discount (bmwpartspros.com - brit@bmwpartspros.com ), if you want to make the drive I can get you hooked up on a good deal with install as well Im sure.

I personally have the Akra Evo and its a great system. would be a great alternative. You can also get a MPE or Akra used for a little cheaper. Not sure what your views on 2nd hand is but some good deals on here all the time with lots of forum members who are like myself who take more care with their cars and parts then they would with their kids hahaha

Well if it cracks then wouldn't it be covered by a warranty if you bought from the dealer and they installed it as well.....

I have the AA midpipe on the stock ZCP muffler. Sound is noticeably deeper, but only slightly louder. At some point I will get a valve controller - valves open with the AA midpipe hits the sweet spot for me.

It really depends on how much change you are looking for. If you want a significant increase in volume and drastic change in sound, the AA midpipe alone will not get you there.

Thats another good point.. The MPE is suffering som quality control issues.. I have seen several posts about this.. Some even after a couple months.
