Not sure what others are seeing here. As expected, M5 dominated. For M5 money though, I could get a GTR and obliterate either. If only it had 4 doors.

So just saying the M5 is faster is not the complete truth is it. Faster on a straight road once over 100mph is not relevant to most people.

I like the M5, great luxury car with lots of power that handles better than a 2 tonne car has any right to. Some great deals to be had here in the UK as well, I was offered over 30% off before any negotiations which puts it right into M3 money. The Reason for this is they're just not selling, plenty sat on lots here that no one wants. Was an easy decision for me to take the M3 instead.

The latest gen M5 will always be faster than the latest gen M3 in a straight line. The M2 will not be as fast as the M3 in a straight line. BMW are very careful to ensure a gap is maintained between these cars acceleration with each generation. They've always done it and will continue to do so.

The M3 is already stealing sales from the M5. No one at all would buy an M5 if it was slower than an M3.

What company in their right mind would not create staggered performance in their sports cars? Maybe Porsche finally in some ways but it woukd be silly to let cheaper 4 door m3 smoke an m5 in all measures. With turbo cars now they coukd easily if they wanted to make the m3 as fast or the m5 even faster etc. Unlimited options and what they dI'd makes the most sense. Give the m5 the big advantage on high way cruising speeds to blast off. That's where most use the car. M3 has performance at lower speeds and isn't a high way cruiser to most markets.

Wow that is too close for comfort if you're in the $100k "winner". Just don't see how the M3 paces the M5 for so long. M5 should be pulling away from the very beginning.

How much is M5 over there? and what percentage of people are able to afford M5 (considering the expensive gas)?

Indeed and MUCH of the argument was about 0-60 times and based on BMW's stock ratings.

This video is a rolling start. Well done the M5, faster every time in that instance. 0-60 is very close.

Plenty of people can afford an M5 here, not sure on the exact percentage! The E60 M5 had a 2 year waiting list on launch and sold well despite it's horrific fuel consumption. Like I said F10 ( and M6) are being offered with huge discounts- almost M3 money.

While you're laughing, i'm crying for your reading comprehension. I specifically said show me a video from a Reviewer that demonstrates the M5's ability to compete on the same level as the GTR. Please, cite me one. Preferably one that gets paid for journalism.

Not some rolling start video by some potential noob drivers.

I'm playing devil's advocate here because I would like the M5 to compete (as a BMW owner), but by every objective measure it doesn't when subject to unbiased professional reviewers.

Too many fanboys on here to be objective at times.

I still drool when I see an E60 M5 that hasn't been destroyed with Mods. That car has such presence and attitude. The F10 M5 I'm not even notice, it's nice looking but so very bland, no surprise since the F10 lacks the attitude of the E60 in general.
