Serious question... When will the good M colors become available (other than the shades of white, silver, and grey)?

What will be the pricing model for Individual. ie, Are the "normal" individual colors (azurite, tanzanite, moonstone, etc.) going to be approx $2,000 like in the M5&M6 and the leather (amaro, gold brown, etc) also?

As some others have said already, offer different brake caliper colors! Having only two color options is ridiculous on a car in this price range, and making the standard color blue is also a mistake IMO. I'd rather have basic gloss black than the blue color that is standard. Charge a couple hundred bucks if you want to and offer some basic choices...red, blue, yellow, orange, black. Blue and gold don't look good with everything.
When spending over $8,000 on a CCB kit I would expect to have a color choice, even for an additional price. A well optioned M4 is $80,000 US so either offer us a choice of a few colors or even charge a little for the option so I don't have to take off my wheels right away and do something about the gold color on a black or white car. Many vendors charge a fee for painted calipers and I'd gladly pay it to get the customization that I want right from the factory.

All individual colors will not be available until 3-6 months after initial orders are completed. Individual colors may be offered or you can pick a current BMW color as an individual color. The individual color option has been $5k previously, so I am guessing it will be close to the same cost.

Supercar makers have realized they can charge a premium to have this color choice. On a Gallardo it's about $975 for a color other than stock. That price wouldn't fly for an M3/M4 of course but I bet a lot of people would pay $200-$300 for the ability to choose a color other than blue. A color choice on CCBs would be great too but if they don't want to throw that in for the price of the CCBs then charge a little for it, the gold is just terrible in my opinion. When I order an M4 it will probably be black and have CCBs and I'd gladly pay a few hundred bucks to get bright yellow calipers. I think it would look great on a black car and BMW is leaving some easy money on the table by not having a few more colors as an upgrade option.

Did the M3/4 use the same electric power steering unit from the 3/4 series at any time during its development?
If so, why did BMW deem it necessary to build an unique EPS for the M3/4 from the "ground up"? What exactly is 3/4 series' EPS' disadvantage? Is it possible to improve the steering feel of 3/4 series simply by fitting it the new EPS WITHOUT modifying the suspension? More importantly, is the new EPS the future of BMW non-M cars? |

I also seem to recall that rear seat heating is deleted when choosing speed cloth.

Jason I have a question prompted by technology appearing in the new M cars.
As the speed at which technology is developing, we're seeing step changes occurring every year now. So how does the car industry plan to keep up with that. Do we as consumers start thinking about buying a new car every two years because by that point the technology in our old car would be obsolete, in which case do cars have to almost become cheap and disposable so they don't become the vehicles that time forgot. Point in case would be now, do I buy an M3 because I really want one, or should I be mindful that in 3 years when I try to sell it 60% of all new cars will be hybrid or BEV so it's second hand prospects are limited. I guess now is a good time to ask because the old concept of keeping a car for 5 years doesn't seem to fit with the pace of new technology.
