BlackVue Front and Rear Dashcam

Just want to share my DIY experience.

I used 161 fuse for the for the Yellow (Continuous Power) which normally powers the lights and the 159 fuse for the Red (ACC) fuse which handles the radio.

Will feedback and edit if 161 turns out to not work.

I used 2A fuses with one ATC/ATO fuse tap and one Normal Mini fuse tap. The install roughly took about 45 mins with some fiddling with a my crimping tool.

I'll get some photos tomorrow during the day as my car park is undercover and dark. Which makes me realise how important it is for my sunjack lights to arrive before I do any other mod/change there...

One question I do have though, the cable connecting the front and the rear is too long, so I stuffed it down between the gap within the lining and the rear glass, as well as the 'gap' in the rear pillar. There was quite a bit and took a lot to stuff it all in - is there any need to be worried that I'm blocking/messing up something behind there? I assume it's just empty space where some other wires are running through?

@jnthn can you post photos please? I am wanting to add the same system to my M4. Are you happy with it? Can you access the system with the cars hotspot?

I actually ran into an issue with the cam draining my battery. I'm trying to diagnose the issue... but so far seems I got a faulty PMP.

@jnthn were you able to simply jump your car like traditionally you can, or simply hook a charger up, both while your battery was connected to the car? Or is there some special ///M way of having to do this? Just curious. BTW that sucks. I really want a DC, but I think I'd like to hear how you fair before I take the plunge. What else have you figured out? Also, I see people bitching on YouTube that you can't read a plate that is greater than one car distance away. Is this your findings also?

I also see that they are releasing the 900 series this year, makes me wonder if they are advancing before debugging...?

Cars with Auto/Start and Comfort Access needs an external battery to run off of. Especially when it comes to the F80/F82, you need at the very least a Cellink B to preserve your car's battery. If the car detects that something is draining the battery too much, the car itself is set to cut functions to preserve the battery.

If you have hardwired the BlackVue w/ Parking, it will continue to drain your car even if you have a Power Magic Pro. Cellink B is the only way to make sure the dashcam isn't directly draining your car's lithium-ion battery.

Power Magic Pro cuts the drainage of your battery when it hits a certain point but the dashcam is still directly draining your battery. Cellink B is the only way to prevent this. There isn't anything wrong with the PMP you have, it's how the car is set to protect itself.

I have turned off parking mode and it seems to be fine now. But arcades seems to bring up a point I read elsewhere as well. I may need a cellinkB

Hey man, thank you so much for the insight. I will look into a cellinkB and see if it will solve my problem and how to hook it up. So essentially because the acc fuse is still hooked to constant power, the battery is still being drained when in parking due to comfort access I'm guessing?

@jnthn Arcades

The battery draining appears to be an issue and I've read where people are trying to connect both the PMP and the Cellink but there are issues. Read here:

I'm going to order everything tomorrow (kit, PMP, Cellink and Blendmount). Maybe we both try and compare notes? Do I need to order anything else?

I have a DR-650S hooked up to a Multisafer only and received the battery drain warning the first few times I used it. I had it set to 24 hour recording. I changed the switches to 12 hours (if I remember correctly) and I haven't received a battery drain warning since (6+ months) even with very intermittent driving (non-daily).

Hey man, I still haven't figured out how to make parking mode work.

But I have turned parking mode off, and my cam switches off correctly, around 1 hr after I power my car on. (I check cam history to know)

So I am guessing my ACC+ plug is correctly hooked up; as it stop feeding the cam power after the fuse turns off as well.

I have no clue how comfort access is affecting my PMP if my fuses are turning off correctly.

I installed the Thinkware Pro F800 in my 2018 M3 from BlackBox. They provided an extended power cable as the standard one is to short. I opted for CellinikB to allow me use the parking mode without affecting my car battery. The F800 PRO is wired directly to the CellinkB and the CellinikB is wired to fuse 125. So the F800 Pro gets power from the car while running and CellinikB while parked. The CellinikB charges while the car is running.

It works great!

Yeah I'm thinking of just hooking up a battery instead as well. Thanks for sharing your install
