I order mine from Perillo BMW in Chicago fro $3,700 (w/ titanium tips) + $250 for installation. I take order of mine in January 2015 and will have them put on before delivery which will extend the warranty from 2 years to 4 years. I am not sure if I got such a good deal because I also ordered my car through them.

Interesting - Got my M3 from Bill Jacobs in Naperville - want full price for exhaust and carbon fiber tips - about $5500 - no way I will pay that.

I'm hoping they will do this. At least give me $1500 off. I haven't taken delivery yet so I can walk on my deal (which also includes an X1 for my niece). I can't imagine they would risk losing it.

Depends on what your definition of better is. I haven't seen a whole lot of exhaust system options for less than $3,500 plus I doubt any other exhaust will be covered under BMW's warranty for that matter.

I think the exhaust is the last thing on the car that needs the warranty, but the AKRA sounds much better to me in the vid posted, at least at WOT, haven't heard CS or anything.

Are you serious? The exhaust is the last thing that needs a warranty? You do know that exhausts prevent deadly fumes from entering the cabin and killing you, right? BTW, the AKRA exhaust is between $4,500 and $6,700, with intallation I am sure you will be above that $5k mark...

Hahahahah, this is comical. You know what a catalytic converter does right? Everything past that is just for noise control.

The reason the exhausts are so expensive is because it's an M4. There is no more R&D involved with this than say Subaru, Vette, etc. it's marketing and because the car costs this much, they can justify raping us for an exhaust. It will not increase HP by a significant amount. Raising the boost 1psi would do more than an exhaust.

It's for looks and sound, and maybe, just maybe a few HP which means little in the real world.

Indeed, some folks are just tardy for the party.

They for sure don't do much in regards to power...the true value is in the sheer enjoyment the driving can become...even in a 335, my world was rocked when I added the catback GThuas

Where is the catalytic converter? Isn't it part of the exhaust system? Isn't the MPE a full exhaust system and hence the warranty? I don't think the discussion was about the cost of the exhaust.

The CC is only part of the exhaust system. I didn't say replacing the converter with a straight pipe would kill you.

Thanks for the post! Nice! How does the MPE sound inside the car compared to the stock unit? Any video clips of that?

Here's my contemplation, the stock exhaust sounds impressive inside because it's enhanced. I was impressed. I'm not spending $4500 for other people's listening pleasure...Lol. I'll get the MPE if it also sounds better inside. If not, I'm just powder coating the stock tips. Lol

The beauty in exhausts IMO is windows down. True pleasure. But its also fun hitting an upshift and watching someone drop their coffee or falling down their driveway...I love pleasuring myself

The "enhanced" sound inside the cabin is actually intake sound that is channeled through the speakers. The MPE does therefore improve the sound inside the cabin because it alters the actual sound coming from the exhaust. I find the engine has now a more signature inline 6 growl with the MPE installed. It is still nice and quiet in "Efficient" mode and cruising around, but with a more pronounced growl. In Sport/Sport+ (or pushing it in "Efficient), now it just howls

The CC is technically a function of the cars exhaust, what we are talking about here is "catback", or from the Downpipe back. This only results in a change of sound. IF you change to a catless down pipe, now you are in emissions/warranty territory, but still not posing a safety risk to yourself or others.

Like I said, The exhaust is literally the last part of the car that need's warrantying.

OK, I stand corrected. Thanks! I was under the impression that the MPE system also replaced the catalytic converter portion (since it is named 'system') instead of just the 'back' portion. Sorry to get your panties in a twirl
