The 119mph is completely consistent with the power this car is putting down. The 11.66 is a fluke, albeit an outstanding fluke
yep, agreed, the trap speeds don't lie about the true power/weight of the car.

The track surface, DCT, launch control, traction control were all factors in getting a good launch on this car to get a sub 12 time.

My view of the F80 hasn't changed a bit...it's a 119 mph trap 1/4 car.

People get so wrapped around the things that don't matter. This is an impressive car and the OP ran an impressive time. It's a beast, period.

As someone else mentioned, manual mode has to be engaged (S3) in order to activate launch control. However, when using launch control, DCT will upshift automatically as long as Launch Control is active. Shifting manually or releasing the "kickdown" button on the throttle pedal will deactivate Launch Control.

Here's a bone stock C7 running repeated 11.6 second quarter miles at Atco @ ~119mph:

Agreed... so this M3 is pretty close to the 460HP and lower weight C7 What impresses me, regardless of the ultimate time at ATCO, is how close it is to the C7 at that track. Same trap but supposedly down 35HP and heavier by a couple of hundred pounds .

exactly what i was thinking. great that atco sheds off time the best slips, but the comparison to the c7 should show that the m3 still did AMAZING

Nice times! That was one seriously incredible run. Thank goodness for the full moon last night lol

MGWally, did you happen to see the Maximum PSI guys while you were there? Mike pulled a run in the 8s last night (8.941 @ 164.330 to be exact) in his insanely boosted E36 M3. They must have been screaming and hollering after that run.

I guess BMW got it right because they are not many people that can hop in a car and cut 1.7x short times on street tires.

Having said, I don't think we are going to see any significantly better times for a stock car.

Awesome!
