Moving from 2014 Cayman S, what next?

In June of 2013 I moved from my Z4 Coupe 3.0SI to a 2014 Cayman S.

While I've enjoyed the car, I think our time together is coming to a close. Perhaps it's a function of age, but I find my desire to drive it like I stole it(high rpm shifts and high speed cornerning) is waning and honestly if you're not doing that, then the car's not that charming. The ride is pretty rough (I have stock suspension with 20's) and there's not a lot of low end torque. It seems to want to be driven like a race car, but I am not sure I am all that into that style of driving anymore. I think I might be making that move from wanting a sports car to wanting more of a GT.

I've also posted before how I have no real emotional connection to the car which means the loss of driving enjoyment in the car is even more influential.

So I feel like making a move, likely in the spring. I'd like a late model (ideally 2011 and up) relatively small car with manual tranny, good low end torque and a non-turbo engine with a max budget of $70k (cdn)

Possible contenders that come to mind for me are:
C7 Z51 (with Magnetic ride)
Audi S5
e89 3.0i

Thoughts? Any other suggestions?

Why the non-turbo engine?

How about a cts-v or Camaro zl-1. Not exactly small cars but they drive great with the mag ride.

New turbo engine will create the same if not more low end torque than a N/A engine. If it's torque you're after for light to light, reconsider a turbo engine. If you want a N/A engine, expect to rev it like you had to with the Cayman.

I know you are looking for a manual but besides the manual part, you just described a C63 AMG...

I was thinking S5 before I noticed your list.
The Carrera S and 2015 Mustang GT are interesting suggestions.

You must have missed to part about a "relatively small car and manual tranny".

Going from a CS to any of those choices will be a big regret.

I vote C7. Its a great looking car, the engine sounds pretty good, and it has a lot of power.

Indeed the 991S comes pretty close to what I am looking for, a 3000lb ish smallish car with good low end torque...but it's beyond my budget

here's a beautiful example (PDK though):

C7 is the most likely, I am not huge on its styling, but artic white with black wheels I think I could live with

I am not sure why no one makes a 3000lb ish, stylish nimble sports car with 300 ft/lbs of normal aspiration sourced torque from about 2000 rpm on...I think that car would sell like hot cakes

nothing on the market like it right now

C7 has the torque but it weighs more like 3400 lbs...
my cayman hits the 3000 lb mark but falls short on torque.

There is no way you can get a 991 for 70k right now.

You should consider CPO 997 older than 2011.
