Yas Marina Blue M3 & Austin Yellow M4 (Toronto Auto Show)
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I was at the Canadian International Auto Show yesterday and spent quite a bit of time at the BMW booth. I was pretty excited to see the M3/M4 in person – definitely what I was looking forward to most (until I found out there was a P1 there). I had my Nikon D5100 with me, but ended up shooting half my photos with my iPhone 5. The lighting is always a challenge, as are the crowds, so I didn't make out with many great photos. They had the hoods propped partially open on both the M3/M4, which was a little annoying. Anyways, on to the cars. Surprisingly, they had the doors open to all of the M models this year (they've always been locked). The only car you couldn't get in was the M235i, which seemed a bit odd. I sat in the M4 first, and was surprised to find a manual transmission inside. Most of the car show F8X photos I've seen were equipped with DCT's. Anyways, what a joy! The seats are extremely comfortable and supportive, and look even more awesome in person. The shifter felt very smooth and rigid – a lot nicer than my '98 E36 obviously! Almost like the B&M short shifter I had in my S14, albeit without such a short throw. I didn't get in the back, but there should be room for a medium-sized adult. It wouldn't be as easy to get into as the M3 though. First impressions: I'm in love. I sat in the M3 next. Just as nice. It had the white leather interior, which is nice, but I can only imagine how dirty it'd get after just a few weeks of ownership. The driving position felt exactly the same as the M4. The paddles seemed nice (position, material, and feel), but I've never owned or driven a car with DCT. I've driven a 458 and a 430 Scuderia, and appreciated the flappy paddles there, but on an F8X, I'd stick with a manual. The M235i looks quite nice in person, especially from the front/front-three-quarter view. The profile view is okay. The back is where things really feel awkward to me. It just looks off. Doesn't look exactly like a BMW. Hard to put my finger on it, but it doesn't look great. They also had a black 435i with some M Performance parts, which was quite nice. I really love the alcantara steering wheel. Overall I'm really excited about the future of BMW. I can't wait to order an M car some day, hopefully with a European delivery A few other awesome cars they had at the show: Ferrari 458 Speciale Ferrari F12 Corvette Z06 McLaren P1 |

Great pics! That color on the 235 IMO would look WAY better then YMB. . . It just looks a bit too baby and not quite enough blue to me. Estoril maybe?

Great pics, and thanks for your comments.
I do wish, though, that people who have not owned light leather would stop perpetuating the myth that they are a disaster to own. It really requires very little extra maintenance over a black leather. But I guess most people don't clean their black leather and just let it be filthy but unseen. I owned an Oyster Nappa equipped 535 for 30 months with two little kids. And it was not a nightmare to maintain in any way. |

That's good to know though. I've always wanted a rust brown interior, but would have been afraid it'd show the dirt too easily. |

All leather gets dirty at the same rate, only difference with a light leather is that you can then see it and clean it if required
