Well, water freezes at 32 all the time. But if you are at 37 ambient temperature it is possible that ice that previously froze and is now melting still exists.

Maybe it registers a warning at 37 to account for a +- 5 degree of error?

BMWs have used 37 for many, many years. Most auto manufacturers now use the same thing. That is because that is the temperature where black ice becomes a real problem. Has nothing to do with an error.

"On clear nights when winds are light, the surface radiates heat much more effectively than the air above. On such nights, temperature at ground level can be 2-5F cooler than air temperature only a few feet above. Thus, frost can be occurring at the surface even when official temperature observations are reporting temperatures of 35 to 37F. During the day, the opposite situation can occur, with the road surface several degrees warmer than the air temperature at 5 feet. Air temperature readings on trucks and cars are similarly problematic...they often are colder (night) or warmer (day) that the road surface. The moral of this story is that motorists and maintenance personnel must be wary of icing as air temperatures drop below around 37F."

TIL that you can program "Stop Guidance" into the programmable buttons so that you can cancel navigation in one touch. So convenient.

Just highlight it with Idrive and press the button.

You can use the same button to start navigation (or restart).

That's right, and this is more useful than one might think.

Usually I only will need the nav when I get close to a new destination (i.e., I know how to get to the freeway from my house, thanks), so I can put in the address before I start driving, then stop nav and all the talking with one button press, then resume to the same destination with one button press when I actually need the help.

The BMW remote is a lot easier to enter destination into and send to the car than messing with navigation on the car.

There is one stupid thing about BMW remote "find your car" feature - it only works if you are within 1 mile of the car !?!?

I took a road trip to DC the other week, parking there is lottery. Finally found a spot, had to walk a bit to my destination, then decided to use the BMW app to guide me back to the car. Guess what - "for privacy reasons", the app refused to be of any assistance. WTF@#?!&

I learned that when I push the gas it GOES. Like snot. Holy heck man. Came from an E90 M3. Loved it! Got this one. Been babying it up to 1200. Past the service now I'm not on eggshells like I was. Gave it too much foot just passing some texter. Thought the car was gonna leave without me. I have the speed alert set at 80. Heard that bell within like an instant. Holy s#!t. We've gone to plaid.

I learned how to play movies on my Nav screen from DVD (so my kids in the back can watch of course).

Just one more to add to all of the cool things these cars can do.

I'm sure that's all it is, but there is a DVD In Motion company that sells the file for your VIN, you download into USB Drive, and install.

I have not yet found the time to learn how to code on my car, but I bet one could if they were so inclined.

Note that I edited my original post. I have not yet figured out how to display video from anything other than an inserted DVD. For example, if I play a move from an iPad connected via USB, I get sound only.

just realize my top view screen is false! It doesn't show my CF roof much less my Cf mirror caps and spoiler....can we code that in? (Half serious request)

But also curious, I happen to have a white car (MW) but those of you who have different colors, does your top view show your corresponding color model on the screen?
Does it show moon roof for those who have it?

I have a Tanzanite Blue M3 with moonroof and I have the same image on my top view screen as all others. Here's a quick pic
