I came from a poor family in Egypt and always loved cars and BMWs but never thought I will ever get to own one, but with hard work and determination that passion became reality.

First BMW which was an M car right out the gate, I was 31 when I bought 2014 M5 and that was my dream car. Now I'm 34 and I went to a 2017 M3 ZCP. Waiting on the new M5 in ZCP to go for next !

31, had mine since May.

Came from an e92 335i. Also a great car.

Funny thing is my insurance actually went down with more than double the coverage limits switching from my 335i to the M3 lol. I was expecting to pay a lot more lol.

Solving problems is a much better skill in life than avoiding them altogether. Learning happens with the former... never the latter! Thanks for sharing the story.

(And any story that ends with a NA 8 cylinder M3 is a story I'll remember!!!)

I'm turning 30 in January and wanted to buy myself a birthday present - in no way is this a midlife crisis deal. I just really love the bodystyle of the current M3s and have always wanted to own/drive one. I work hard for my money and am not a trust fund baby.

Looking to gather some insight across the forum on the age range everyone purchased their first M3. Was it too early/late? If you bought one early on in life, if you had the chance to do it again, would you have waited? Thanks in advance you beautiful people.
Mid 30's, that was 20 years ago...I've lost track of all the BMW's I have bought or leased. it's been a good run.

31. Almost bought an e92 in 2013 but decided to blast $100k on a very ill fated Evo build. Bought a Grand Cherokee SRT to try and make me feel better about the terrible Evo. Got bored and bought the car I should have bought when I was 29 and got rid of the GC SRT.

With 18 my first BMW e30 318is.
The M4 F83 when I became 29 years.

Several other mostly German cars inbetween.
The memory on my e30 made me to chose again and again a BMW.

Cool I bought Mine at the Tender Age of............

I purchased my F80, with all the bells and whistles I wanted, at the "Perfect Age". To me a perfect age is when:

1. I could actually afford to buy the car.
2. I was able to get it with the options I wanted.
3. I am able to Insure it for a reasonable price.
4. I can regularly afford the gas it needs.
5. I am able to put it in a nice garage.
6. I can afford to AutoX, HPDE and play with it.
7. I can put the Boyz in the car and do donuts in large lots.

It does not matter at what age you get this car at.

That’s a fantastic answer.

I will say, this purchase was a bit of a milestone. Owning my own business, a condo in this insane city and not owing any consumer debt or taxes was capped off with this car. That said, the bank owns a lot of it still, but it’s easily affordable which is what matters

Fell in love with a friend's E36 M3 when I was 18, but took quite a few years until it made financial sense to get one of my own. Picked up an F80 last week at 41. Ironically, the same color combo as that E36 back in the day
