Chicago bumper repair
I accidentally parked by Braille last night and a have a bumper ding in my brand new M3. The body shop (over the phone) thinks it would be <$500 for a full respray.
Given that this is chicago and the bumpers are going to get abuse, I'm curious if anyone knows a less expensive option for touch up.

enclosed parking is best choice, if possible. next, outside parking lot. lastly, street parking. if street parking is ur only option, than, hate to say it, get the bumper parking mat.

The issue is you will need to use a plastic filler to fix the "hole" which means you will need to spray the entire bumper. Maybe not color but it will all need clear. Depending on the color, I could see the need to blend on the adjacent panel to make sure it looks correct.
Granted I haven't painted cars since the 90's but that is what I would have done back then

-JLT- & @ando
Thanks for the recommendation but I live in the heart of the city and Palatine is a bit too far of a hike. I've got a trusted garage that can do a full body off respray. I just hoped to avoid it since I know the bumper's going to get scuffed up again. GlazierGlaze I have an enclosed, heated garage. I live in the city, most of my parking is in the city. Always parking in a garage is both impossible and and a level of paranoia I'm not going to accept as part of my life. In the end, it's just a car. -JLT- Bumper mats are another level of paranoia that I'd rather not go to. In the end, my hopes for an inexpensive, targeted, fix are dashed but a few hundred dollars for a bumper respray aren't the end of the world. Thanks for all the advice!

Sooo... less than a week after I got my bumper repaired, someone put a nice little depression in my front bumper. I'll not get this one fixed right away since it wasn't my fault but it's still quite annoying.
I bought a fancy car, I park on the street, meh, what did I expect? *sigh*
