+1 - I know the ridges and extra vents serve a purpose in the front spoiler, but prefer a cleaner look.

To be honest, this car should be white.

BMW is desperately pushing this color out the door. Reminds me of Phoenix yellow on the e46 M3. Yeah, it was hot initially, but then nobody wanted it because it looked like vomit.

Similar case here. You simply don't "see" the color the way you should until you see it in person. And my experience has been that yellow mustard-like colors look like crap on these cars.

IMO, the only yellow that looks good on M3's was/is Dakar Yellow.

I think it was mentioned that this color "aurum dust" was for the concept only, and it would not be available on the production car. I think it looks great... but I also like the "vomit" colored e46 m3.

The 4 is too long and too soft looking. Nice car, but it doesn't inspire lust like the E46 did in 2000. Looks good - falls short of awesome.

Compared to the rest of the BMW lineup so far, I think it does well as far as differentiating itself from its non M counterpart. The E46 330i ZCP and E92 M sports were eerily close to the M3. I am not a fan of 20s though. I remember the 19s on the E46 looked insanely big back then..

It's always been that way... same sausage, different length right?
Bangle was hired to stop that trend and was successful but conservative bmw fans wanted to hang him.

does anyone else think this and the 435i look too similar? they need to make the m4 look a bit more extreme

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the production M4 when you see it at the Detroit Autoshow in January.

The "chrome shadow" on the E46 M3 was concept only too. I heard that paint job was very expensive. Phoenix yellow looked good in person, unless it was dirty. Then it looked like vomit.

Cheers.

Hope it is more fun to drive than the 435i which was a complete let down in my opinion.
