I've been reading this thread for weeks now. I ordered my F80 on September 14th, but production was pushed all the way back to December 27th. According to the genius number, my car has been at the port since December 30th. I'm getting so antsy. So much so that last night I dreamt the car arrived with 3500 miles on it and was all dirty (as if someone had been driving it around while it sat at the port for weeks). I was pissed.

Interesting how much info you can get on cars location. I will be looking to see if I can figure exactly where it is after Feb2, that's my prod finish day.
Too cool!!!

New to the forum. This post has been incredibly informative and I thank all of the contributors for all the useful info!
I ordered a G12 that finished production on 1/19/17. It got to the port on 1/23/16. Eve called BMW Genius a few times and it's status is still listed at the port 10 days later. Has anyone experienced a delay that long while being assigned a vessel? |

You can also put the VIN in W&W's tracking to see if it's on one of their ships: https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage Use the "Cargo ID" field with the entire VIN. |

Just wondering here where Houston, TX is located, is this considered the East or West coast? So far my vehicle is still at port awaiting a carrier since the 22nd of February but as stated, won't even really know until the car has left exit port for a few days. The shipping to port is Galveston, TX so I am not sure if that put the car on a east coast ship or a west coast ship?

I have some questions regarding this process. I ordered M240i 2/22 it finished build 3/15 and is at port awaiting a ship since 3/17. I am east coast (NY). I have not found an area on the BMWUSA website to see my specific options like the first picture (Vehicle Inquiry Report?)
Also can you clarify when you say in the general timeline of events: At port waiting for a ship 1-2 days Then on a ship 3-5 days Then shipping time 12-17 days (east coast) So that means you wait close to a week just sitting on a ship for other bimmer's THEN 12-17 days for delivery correct? Thank you!

The days you mentioned are additive. Days 1-2 at port, days 3-X on a boat, etc. I will note it sometimes takes upwards of a week waiting at port for a ship though. It's not always just a day or two. |

Can't See Tracking Information
Hi guys,
This is a very interesting and useful thread - thanks Bmwguy11 for putting it together. I've just registered on the BMW USA website in order to track my new X5 being built. I have the production number and the site finds correctly it when I add it and it appears in the my vehicles area down the left hand side, but that is as much info as I'm able to see, unfortunately. If I go into the vehicle itself, it just shows me accessories, recall info etc etc, and nothing about tracking. I also registered my existing car and it's similar to the page for this. Am I missing something? Is there a separate section for tracking builds? Thanks in advance! |

Thanks for the great post. It helped me track my car right to the Halifax port in Canada.
For further tracking for Canadians I was able to track my car from Halifax to the dealer here https://www.lhf.com. Im not sure if BMW canada always uses the same carrier but mine showed up on their site approximately 1 week after arriving in Halifax. I got the ultimate package so that would have added some delay for carrier pickup as the additional parts had to be installed. |
