How are your liking x-pipe? I just picked up a Dinan exhaust and deciding if I should add that as well

Curious as to whether retaining secondary cats was a priory for you and, if so, whether it's known as to whether primary care alone are enough to pass emissions tests in your state.

Pretty sure its the same for every state. The secondary cats or however people want to refer to it, is an emission required component.
In California it is for sure.
Even tho it will not create a CEL, it is still required to be installed.
If your vehicle gets inspected during a smog, you will fail visual

The dinan x-pipe does not delete the secondary cat only the secondary resonator.

I took an N54 in for smog which originally had secondary cats but did not at the time of the smog test. They did a visual inspection and didn't fail it. I have a feeling reputable above-board shops don't often check some reference document to figure out how many cats they need to count up...

I'm aware, thanks though (if this was indeed aimed at me). It's why I asked, however unclearly, whether the retention of the secondary cats was a priority.

I do agree that things don't get checked as the law states.
I have a friend that has been getting this BMW M3 "E46" smog checked with the same intake for many years and this year he was failed due to aftermarket intake.
Just the luck of the draw I guess when it comes to what is inspected and how strict they will be

Yeah hoping we can get some user reviews on the Dinan x-pipe. Going to be installing Dinan exhaust and not sure if I want to add x-pipe or not

Curious if its better to remove the secondary cats or the secondary resonator (or both) but still retaining the OEM axle back setup. Would both deletes make it too loud? Which delete would be best?

I had a spare OEM midsection and currently having someone skilled enough to remove the 2ndary catalysts and put pipes in it's place. I am leaving the resonator in at this time and will see soon how well it works with my 17 M3 ZCP .

I ended up ordering just Turner test pipes (to delete the secondary cats only) and try running this setup with stock DP and stock axle back system. Should add volume without drone (hoping).

I did this exact setup and I am very pleased with the results. It has also broken in nicely over time and I get some subdued pops and girgles off throttle around town without any software tuning. Overall very happy for a reasonable price IMO. no drone either, but my car is a 6MT and that may make it better.

Thanks. Just scheduled the install for Tuesday night and will try to get some clips posted. Really hoping this will be just enough added sound (at a low price comparatively).
