Not as an investment or anything else.

I bought one to drive it, not as an investment. I would think it will retain most of its value over the years though, unlike any typical mass produced car.
A real investement would require decent yearly returns. In that sense, no. Not an investment. I stick to the stock market for that (has been great in the past few years...) |

Now if I had only bought the Ford GT I wanted in 2006... How do you like the GTS BTW? I found one at my local dealer when I was buying parts last week. I was surprised it was for sale.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

In terms of sensations and sound though...Wow! No comparison with my former 2016 M3 which I already enjoyed.. So much fun... and steering feel is amazing. I will give a full review in the spring since it will be my daily driver then. In terms of value? no one knows, but there is no M4 CSL on the horizon and the M4 CS coming out this summer will be half way between the ZCP and the GTS. The GTS is still the top dog of the series and production was limited to 800 units so it is unlikely that it will sell for less thatn MSRP for the years to come. As to increasing in value? I would not count on that. I am planning to enjoy it anyway so the investment part is secondary to me. |

Cars are fickle, just like their owners. Take for example the BMW Z8, with 2602 imported to the US, as opposed the the roughly 400 GTS we received, now look at how they have appreciated. To me they don't do a thing for me, but apparently quite a few people don't think as I do (imagine that). With the that being said I feel it is to early to make a blanket statement the the GTS is relegated to being an expensive paperweight down the road. While not for everyone there will be those that will see this car as a must have for their collection or for whatever reason they need to have one. Presently we are seeing a bit of a glut on the market, and in most situations where the supply is greater than the demand the price of the commodity suffers. So everyone gets super jacked when the pick one up at MSRP, once the supply diminishes I feel these cars will then demand more of a premium. It will be interesting to see how well used examples fair when compared to the garage queens in a year or two. In a previous post I wrote how the E36 M3 LTW, with about 125 made for the US only was initially not to well received. Decent LTW,s now are pricey with lower mileage cars inching well north of 100K, more than twice the $47,900 sticker. In comparison the GTS offers way more in value and performance as opposed to the LTW, which didn't even have the hot euro motor, just a handpicked S50 US spec motor. It will be interesting to revisit this subject down the road. Just saying.

Completely agree i feel the only reason some are still even sitting or being offered at msrp is due to BMW making more then originally anticipated 350 including canada and around 415 were made including canada that leaves 65 cars available at the last minute on top of that, no dealer wants to sit on a car this expensive once these cars are accounted for, it will be much harder to get one and drive or keep the price at msrp Supply and demand maybe long term it will have a nice value, but i wouldn't plan on retiring based on the profits on it! lol i think it will be great bargain if owners can drive the car and sell for msrp similar to the 1m i don't think these will go for under msrp at any point, but we will see in a few years |

A much better investment than 2017 Ford Shelbys GT350 R selling between $100,000 and $125,000 online...
Sorry but it is still a Mustang with a Mustang interior. Could not care less if it blows my windows off from 0 to 60. Very happy with my M4 Gts, thank you! And, yes, I will be putting miles on it. |

I don't think it's unrealistic to say that it would only take a marginal market correction or economic downturn to put 20 of these things on the market at a decent discount in a hurry. I know, I know! Everyone bought theirs cash with disposable income and would never part with it because it's the Internet and not real life. But MSRP would be a pipedream for sellers in a hurry for these things given reviews. Like everyone else here, I may be wrong, but I think the future holds some great opportunities to buy some good examples at clearance prices. If you're willing to sit with one in your garage for some reason.

I know of several brand new M4 GTS in-stock right now sitting on dealer lots selling for significantly less than MSRP. It is unfortunate as I really consider the value hurt by uneducated reviewers who do not understand what the essence of the car is, or the setup required to get the most out of the car. But that is the world we live in, where the unwashed masses look at a video of Jeremy Clarkson scraping the splitter on a speedbump of a factory caged track car with adjustable suspension and automatically declare it garbage.
Morons. I am not lucky enough to own a M4 GTS (I have a M2), but it's the same sentiment that pisses me off from the guys bashing the M2 for being "too loud inside" or the "ride being too stiff." Buy a camry if that's what you want. I'd rather the brand go the other way entirely, and the M4 GTS represents a step in the right direction. |
