Is there a true O2 simulator for downpipe ?

I'm currently considering on getting a Akrapovic downpipe (catless) and looking for a true O2 simulator.

Akrapovic Delete-R doesn't seem to be a true O2 simulator.

Mike confirmed that JB4 was not a true O2 simulator either.

I'm wondering if there is a solution which doesn't actually delete the check engine light, but actually prevents it. Enquiring minds want to know.

I guess you could just try some different types of O2 extenders.

Yup.
Granted not on a M car but my neighbor actually has a C5 Z06 with straight through exhaust and runs a spacer. We were talking about this a couple weeks ago and he mentioned that when he last took her in for emissions the dumped some E85 in the tank and drove her around for bit and got tested with no issues. He said he's never had a CEL pop up. I can find out more details next time I seem him.

I dunno if there is enough clearance where our sensors are to put in a spacer then insert the O2 sensor though.

That's some backwoods po-dunk shit. Tell your neighbor to get his Z06 tuned and he can send his O2 spacer back to Jeg's.

Given the difficulty the N55 guys are having I sincerely doubt a SIM is in the near future:

Spark plug non-foulers (which is what these originally are) should not be anywhere near this vehicle.

OP: A proper flash tune will do what you are asking.

Will the flash tunes allow for the car to pass emissions testing though? If not then that isn't a real long term solution.

As long as the cats are still in place, yes. No reputable tuner would risk offering a tune that would intentionally defeat emissions testing.

Exactly! The OP is asking for a SIM that will allow the CAT readiness monitor to go green.

Not entirely accurate. Sometimes ask and you shall receive

The JB4 is not, neither is the BMS CanFlap..

I believe someone confirmed that the Akra Delete_r is also not a true simulator. So Just like the F-series N55/N20 I don't believe there is one on the market.

A few have played with o2 spacers, etc.. but no reliable success to date from what I have seen.

There is nothing that will work with a catless downpipe and keep the monitors present.
Your only resort is a tune or a module but both will keep the monitors "not ready".

Thanks for the input, gents.
So, no O2 sims in the market it seems... Akra Delte-R, JB4 etc are all CEL deleters.

To clarify, you will still get a "check engine light" when your vehicle has an issue.

Those items that are only going to keep the CEL off for the catalytic convertor efficiency and oxygen sensor codes that will be present with the CAT removed only.
Hope that made sense

Your from Korea ? I lived in Paju when I was stationed with the Army years ago.
I'm planning a trip to visit again. Great country to visit.

Hi Autohaus Frankfurt
Cheers for the info.
Yes, I'm currently based in Korea. Let me know when you revisit Seoul.

I installed Akra downpipe + Evolution + Delete-R yesterday. (Replaced M Performance Exhaust)
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...8&postcount=46
Accel response and sounds amazing. It really wakes the car up. However, it throws CEL at the moment. I need to go back to the dealer sometime next week.

Update us with what the code is once you get it scanned by the dealer.
I have had a bad Delte-R module in the box (brand new) and have spoke with more then 1 shop that had the same experience.
Bad module in a new package.

I received a replacement module and all was fixed.

I had to replace my Delete-R as well due to a OEM defect. Anyway, got a new one and works flawlessly. As far as I know the Akra one is a true O2 Sim. It doesn't go anywhere near the canbus to delete the codes. It sits inbetween the O2 sensors and the rest of the car, hence modify the o2 signal from the sensors or simulates the correct signal. I call that an O2 Sim.

It was an lambda sensor error. It turned out that the Akrapovic Delete-R was a defective module. So, I went for Awron Performance Display System (aka, Awron Gauge). Working great so far.

I wonder why there is such a high failure rate on new modules.
Glad you got it resolved

Seems ever since the N55 was introduced anything other then a CANBus clearing solution of the DP codes seems to be very problematic. So its not surprising.
