For the people saying to get a flash tune to remove the light, or to buy a retarded akra delete to just mask the light, may as well just throw away your money. You won't pass emissions so what is the point of it??? Makes absolutely no sense why you would remove the cel but won't pass emissions anyways. I have been looking everywhere to find this fix because I need the car to pass the readiness test.
Would prefer a flash tune over simulation/emulation any day.

No one has any idea of the reliability or long term issues these types of homemade devices can cause in the long run.

flash tune is great yea for tuning purposes but to remove a cel for the dp is not a fix. It is simply masking the light for zero benefits. I never said anything about a simulator being better than a tune. simply stating a flash tune removing the light is pointless.

that's basically the only negative you can say, that no one knows the long term reliability. when you're modifying your car you are also taking away from the "longterm" reliability of the car...great

That would classify as a pretty big concern.

I don't think anyone out there would go through the trouble of flashing a DME solely to remove a CEL. Do it correctly the first time and get the added benefits from tuning.

Tom I know you say nobody has any idea.... But I believe it works this way:

First O2 sensor monitors that the engine combustion is working correctly

Second O2 sensor monitor cat performance only

So if the car computer is noticing the cat is not working properly but the the engine is, in theory it should not affect anything or maybe run a little richer to make the cats "work"

There may not be any repercussions at all besides the cel, but whats your take?

JC

Secondary O2s have an effect on long term fuel trims also.

I understand no one would but you are saying to get the cel removed right and to get a flash tune. Removing it this way does nothing but get rid of a light. some people don't want a flash tune and even if they did it does NOTHING for the cel. You are really missing the point of this simulator but let's just agree to disagree. No point in saying the same thing over and over.

Installing this tomorrow and having my buddy borrow my car over the weekend to really get some miles on it since he drives a lot. I work at home and don't have the time to drive it too much.

If a simulator fix worked for me to just pass emissions test then I'd remove them until the next year!

This simulator works perfectly. There was a thread on here where we waited for the developer to complete testing for over a year. Multiple members bought it, including me. I'm Castless N55 and have been running this for 6 months without a CEL. Passed OBD 2 emissions so without issue

Ive known of this O2 simulator for a long time now and everyone who's installed it swears by it! ...however, I don't know of any S55 owners personally that have installed and shared their experiences with it yet even thou the company states it should work for S55's indentically like it does for N55's...

Anyone installed the "Area 74" 02 Sim on their F8X's catless DP's yet!?

don't O2 sims mess with long term fuel trims? i had issues running O2 sims on my N54 so I took them off, only to install if i needed to bring the car in for inspection.

these may be convenient to install for inspections (instead of having to remove the entire downpipes) but leaving it on indefinitely is probably not suggested.

Do we have any updates on this boys? Is there long term fuel trim issues with running this sim? I am literally minutes away from getting a downpipe. And I don't want to deal with the hassle of a CEL, or emissions down the road. Might stick with a midpipe if that's the case.

I've heard from many that it works, so that's not my primary concern. My main one is if these O2 simulators mess with fuel trims? And has long-term use issues. But I also would be glad to hear from another forum member if the O2 simulator is still functioning.

I'm new to the bmw world is this 02 simulator worth it? I like the exhaust note with just downpipes and midpipes of videos i've seen on youtube. I really dont wanna deal with the dealer giving me crap.
