GoPro integration with BMW lap timer

It's available, just make sure phone is connected via USB to get Go Pro functionality.

The app crashes when selecting gopro button on both iphone and ipad ios 10.1.1 when connected to bmw via usb cable.
gopro 5, I will test older gopro's but its the app crashing not likely the gopro.

Then fails after it crashes it won't load up at all. Flashes first accept splash screen then vanish/crash. It will not work as a app at all until after the iphone/ipad are power cycled.

Even then, the app has to start up on the iphone or ipad prior to connecting the car usb cable, otherwise if your plugged in the app fails to load immediately.

Not just installing the app but actually using it with your car and a gopro.

Not just installing the app but actually using it with your car and a gopro.

From the Apps Store description for BMW M Laptimer, under "What's New in Version 1.5":

Supports GoPro® HERO4 and GoPro® HERO4 Session. Support for newer models will follow shortly.

Thanks, just my luck that my new gopro is too new, and my old gopro is too old. lol

M Laptimer is not supported on Android. This is why I bought a new iPod Touch to keep in the car. More music capacity than my old iPod nano and M Laptimer for the track.

I took my HERO4 out to the car in November to verify that it works with the M Laptimer and they worked together just fine. I haven't actually used it on track yet as my last track event was in October. I had an autocross in December but forgot to take my GoPro. I have an autocross and a track event next month and I plan on using the GoPro with the M Laptimer.

That is good thanks for the confirmation it at least works for one specific generation of gopro.

How accurate are you looking for? Yes you rely on you recording device to provide data I view it as a constant. No matter what data you get it should be the same. If I improve then hopefully I am learning. If you want more accurate GPS and rpm/brake/throttle on screen then you will want external devices.

Get a XGPS 160 sky pro, and kiwi 3 ODB2 for harrys laptimer and a gopro(any generation). I have no complaints for this wannabe VBOX setup.

Nobody expects the bmw laptimer app and gopro integration to compare to either, more of a novelty that was delivered late and still not working for modern generation hero.

PSA if you have apple CarPlay: to get the GoPro to connect to m laptimer and the car at the same time, change the phone connection to the car to Bluetooth, then connect to the GoPro with the phone's wifi.
