Low 10s. Right on.

I could smoke all 4 on my 01 996tt with 750hp and the car really needed taller gears even with my Ruf 550 conversion in my 04. The new 991 turbo s is in a completely different league than even the 997 tt. At $200+, I would go 458 every time.

Thank you, sir. Actually going to try hard to get this M4 into the 9s in 2017.

Should be ready for 911 in a couple of years after some house projects are done and both kids drive and don't have to shuttle them around. Have my eye on the 2017 991.2 Turbo S. Sick car. Simple mods will easily get it into mid-9s, and without much risk of anything breaking. Those cars are made for punishment.

I would not purchase another RCF, but I would take it back over the M3. The RCF feels and looks the part and drove very well as a daily driver. My only complaint was that the transmission kinda sucked, especially after having PDKs, F1s and Egears.

Lol about the slow comment. I used an Elise (on slicks, Lexan, CF clam and etc.) to instruct DEs from about 2006 to 2012 until I killed the 2nd engine after 3 transmissions . . . I could have as much fun with that car on a technical track like Barber as I could with my cup cars and Elise's are slooowwwww, especially after hitting about 115.
I'm in Nashville and would have let you take my M3 cp out since it's been broken in. I saw the M3 you bought in their showroom but they never spec their cars well.

I came from Lexus and crossed shopped the Rcf/Porsche before I bought my yas M4. Should have bought the Porsche but with kids, I decided on the Bmw.

Have you thought about the new Lexus LC500?

I currently have a 991 GT3 and a couple of other 2 seaters for fun, but I needed a 4 seater for a daily driver because I have a 5 year old . . . Started the child thing again late in life due to younger wife.

My daily drivers from 97 forward were a 97 993tt, 2001 996tt (750hp GT2 intercoolers, hybrids and etc.), 2004 996tt cab (Ruf 550), 2008 997 tt cab and 2011 997.2 tt, but I also purchased a 5 series in 2011 for the baby.

In 2015, a friend of mine that owns the local Lexus dealership talked me into an orange RCF that he ordered for himself at about 90% of invoice. It had a bigger back seat than a 911 and a fresh design so I went with it. I ditched the 5 series and the 997.2 tt and went with the 2015 GT3 and 2015 RCF for daily driver.

I totaled the RCF on December 9. I was trying to do the "responsible" thing and go with a roomier car for 2 years until daughter is in booster.

Lol, I had good intentions and wife loved the Yas Marina Blue. The car just ain't for me.
That is a bunch of crock... I've extensively driven an rcf and own both an m4 and a macan gts. The macan will drive circles around an rcf in any measure.. sound, steering, feel, interior. I love my macan. The rcf is heavy and u feel it. The interior is cramped and it looks like a transformer.. it's barely faster than an e90 m3. The m4 is in a different league than an rcf. Perhaps u should look into a gs350f sport based on your posts?

The Macan GTS drives better than an S. I think the S is too soft and too much body roll, but it it my wife's car, not mine, and she picks her own stuff out. I am Porsche biased guy through and through and have raced 911s since the 80s. Gotta admit, that I liked the RCF better than the Macan S. I have spent very little time in a Macan GTS and crossovers ain't my thing.

I think a lot of German car people just snub the RCF because it is Japanese. Its actually a decent car.

Also drove the 458 Italia for 7 laps around a track 2 years ago. Awesome machine. Just can't beat that exhaust note. Not a daily driver, though. lol

dont even get me started on that. i just stood up in his car (top down) and threw one leg over the door and stepped out like i was crossing over a log in the road. i tried using the door and gave up in fear of breaking half the car.

@ OP

If you dump the M3 are you still requiring a 4 door?

If you still need a 4 door I'd just keep he M3 through break in and spend another $6k for some fun. JB4, intakes to make it sound better and an MPE exhaust and the car will wake right up.

If you don't need 4 doors then dump it tomorrow and get something more in line with your power hungry needs. Or, keep it and go full retard and try to run low 10's

Yep. I thought about it, but my timing got screwed up because I totaled my daily driver and had to get something now. I wanted the LC/LF version as it is supposed to have forced induction and around 650 hp. I was told the LC500 won't be out until August-ish and no word on the forced induction version.

I screwed up. Took insurance company 2 weeks to tell me the RCF was totaled. Found out 2 days before Christmas and kind of just purchased what I could get ASAP locally. Wife loved the car and I was like it beat the heck out of the POS Caddie CTS rental car . . .

Whatever floats your boat, but can't really take anyone'e opinion seriously who buys a $75K car and comes to the conclusion they don't like it before its even broken in.

That's like buying a house, then suddenly deciding you want to move and buy another before you paint it, or put your own furniture in it.

How about take it for a track day and see what its all about? Or live with it for a few months to see if it grows on you?

Funny thread...

Never had a 911 but I get it. Sounds like you may be making another rush decision though by trying to get a 911 at a NC Bmw dealer. I would shop around and test drive other cars (Panamera, E63,... ??). Hopefully you can live with the m3 and GT3 until then.

I have a 5 yr old and a 1 yr old and couldn't be happier with a 4 door sedan rather than a 2 door...

I used to own a 2015 RC-F and almost bought a 2016 non tvd when I was waiting for my M3. From my experience I prefer the LFA inspired instrument cluster and exhaust note of the RC-F. I prefer the DCT and handling of the M3. I agree with the others. If you are not happy with your car now, you will never be happy with it ever. Do you have access to Carmax? If you do, you should take your car there and get an appraisal/offer. Good luck.

Judging cars

Judging a car during its initial break-in period is like judging sex based on a quick w@nk or a boxer based on a light sparing session.

Look at the HP curve. Where do most of the ponies live? New tyres don't stick, gear shifts are tight and notchy, exhaust valves are not opening and the adrenalin never flows. Even a GT3 will only be a shadow of its true self during its early break-in period.

Regarding pricing, would you be willing to buy a $60K+ used car, when you can have an undriven new reg of your own spec. for $4K more?
I don't know about the US but in the UK, finance terms on used cars are FAR less attractive than on new units, which immediately pushes their price down by several $K. Also the fact that you got a $6K discount off retail is meaningless if other punters can get the same. If you buy a new car and trade it immediately you're going to take a financial bath, but the difference between a car with 400 miles and 2000 miles will not be great, so do yourself a favour......suspend disbelief until you can experience the M3's full performance envelope. If you are still underwhelmed, then consider your financial position and do a trade if you can afford it. The loss you incur now or after 2 years will be the same.....you'll pay correspondingly more depreciation for the 2 years usage, but the initial loss won't change.

Finally, you need to be aware of a phenomenon known as PPP (post purchase paranoia). This is very common in automotive and hi-fi circles, where purchasers suffer anxiety that the decision they made may be the wrong one. The one thing hi-fi and cars have in common? They both need to run in to perform at their optimum.

Seeing the lineup of cars you come from,l can somewhat see why the M3 isn't pleasing for you. But then again, I say break it in and go WOT and then tell us this isn't one of the baddest sedans out on the market . I've driven an RCF and yeah it's a nice car,but the M3 looks way better for the price range and performance. If you do need a daily driver and don't mind having a slower car, I'd say get a Lexus IS350 F Sport. That car is comfortable. At the end of the day it's your choice, so do what you think works

Yep, going today to see the quote . . . The RCF auto/manual torque converter slush box is definitely the one thing about the car I thought could be vastly improved, but it still was a great fricken car that had plenty of power. I could drive the wheels of the RCF and what's up with the exhaust note on the Competition Package? Fart can Civic inspired???

I think part of my issue with M3 is feel and looks going from sport cars to a family truckster feel sedan. Screwed up. What can I say . . . Its still a nice ride even if subjectively it does not check all of my boxes.

I know 911 market well. This car was a 2012 997.2 4S with factory aero kit which are about as common as big foot sightings. I called back to hold car with a deposit until I found a better way to dispose of my M3, but the aero kit C4S sold about 2 hours after the shitty $62k trade in quote.

I have a real specific want: low mileage NA 997.2 S/4S factory aero kit and a back seat. I don't want 991, turbo or NA 997.1 (scoring/IMS/RMS bs). 997.2 aero kits seem to be rarer than alien abductions.

The first part of what you way is very intuitive and basically where about half of me is at and wants to be, especially with children.

Lol about the IS 350 F Sport. Wife had one for 18 months at our beach house. Since replaced by S7. I am not a Lexus or Japanese fan boy and the RCF or perhaps the new LC is the only Japanese cars I would consider. I don't even like the GTR.

Pretty much all your daily drivers have been AWD, so I can see why you're perplexed with the rwd M3.
