From the video, sounds horrible at low RPMs with even more of the lawn mower sound. WOT It sounds very nice and special.

Akra site doesn't seem to have weight savings and performance gains for full system (including downpipes)?

Also really interested to know how much weight is actually saved with this system. Being that it's a full titanium setup, it should be a number worth bragging about!

It's difficult to capture the true sound of the exhaust especially when dealing with wind and road noise. I assure you this thing sounds fantastic in person.

You would think they would be bragging, but the first install has totally avoided one of the biggest questions. Makes me wonder. You really only have 4 big questions, price/hp gains/weight savings/sound. We have the price, Akra gave us the HP gains on their site, we've heard horrible sound clips but where is the last piece of the puzzle?

Buy this for a DSLR, because the $7,000 exhaust sounds horrible. $140, problem solved.

Rode only records in one direction, as it is a directional mic. It might be hard to capture as the coverage angle is too narrow.

I would suggest Zoom H4N as it covers wilder angle and it is stereo. Also you would need a windscreen to prevent wind noise being recorded while driving.

My opinion on the price thing. Do note that while I have Akras on other cars, I haven't installed or seen one on the new M3/4s yet.

It's easy to make an exhaust loud. However, in my past experiences, the Akras deal with one thing which few manufacturers are able to - droning. Sitting in a car with drone in stop and go traffic sucks and my past Akras never had that problem.

When moving from stainless steel to titanium, there is a huge premium. Shaving the first few pounds off a stock car can be easily justified, but as the weight savings go up, the marginal cost spikes (as in race cars). A similar phenomena happens with wheels.

R&D. Now many exhaust manufacturers have R&D facilities like Akra. Anyone can manufacture an exhaust. Testing the exhaust to fine tune requires money.

And of course, the brand. Akra will have a premium. Our contribution to their sponsorship, advertising and videos.

Does it justify paying? I don't know. I did. But everyone has different priorities.

Can you confirm whether the boot sensor gets disabled when the Akra diffuser is installed? Thanks!

Any flyby videos of the sound? This is very important if one is to justify the price before purchase. The sound a few inches from the exhaust doesn't truly reflect what the car sounds like from outside. Also interior sounds would be good and standing revving.
