None of the builds so far have come with Version 3 of the shields, so regardless of your build date, these would be the newest Version 3's.

I thought the so called version 3 shields have the same part numbers as the replacement shields. So they are really the same things. No?

Realoem.com has these as the current part numbers for the F8X M3/M4. The older part numbers are not even available so anyone going to get this work done now should be getting these parts.

Thanks for the information. I"ll get the latest and greatest, then! I had assumed my 4/2016 build had the latest version. Kind of surprising that we are on generation 3 of what seemingly is a simple part. Does anyone know what the deal is? My other BMWs (including my current Ms) have never experienced this problem.

Anybody ever find out what the difference is between 2X 34-21-2-284-745 and the other L 34-20-8-053-265 & R 34-20-8-053-266 protection plates as shown on REAL OEM?

Adding to this thread. I heard this can/plastic dragging thing about 2 times already always at low speeds 7-18 mph. I tried to replicate with the same scenario above with no success, I'm at 720 miles currently will monitor from now on 2017 M3 ZCP just to add.

Had the same thing. Only at low speeds. Had it repaired last week. Dealer had to order the new brake shields. They had my car for 5 days.

I have a 2017 M4 Comp Package, with 350 miles on it. Had the noise last weekend pulling into a parking lot. Pushed the driver side rear brake shield in and a couple of pebbles fell to the ground. No more noise. I don't think the issue is resolved with a new brake shield part, since I'm assuming my car would have them.

Starting To Get Sick Of The Noises!!!!
Took delivery of my 17 F80 back in late August and was affected by the real differential re-call which didn't get replaced 4 months after.
I always hear this screeeeeeeeeeeeeetch noises in the left rear of my car before the differential replaced mainly on turns. After it have been replaced, the noises minimal maybe 2-3 times a week of driving. Today I just experienced literally 10 minutes of driving on turns and straight lines and just screeeeeetch. Its like my exhaust is getting drag on the ground but thats not it. I have told my dealership about it but they couldn't replicate the same noise. Someone please help me figure wth is going on!!!! |

I'm surprised your dealer doesn't already know to replace your brake shields, this is a very common problem and relatively easy fix. Do you have a lot of gravel on your roads?

It happens every so often on my car....seems more often with the ZCP wheels vs the 437M's, too, but I digress. Cheers,
