If you wait for LCI you are waiting to buy an outdated car!
There's a reason for LCIs and it's that the car is long in the tooth.

You guys that are talking to CA's who tell you there's no ordering info ... Those CA's should be able to take a refundable deposit which puts you in line on a list so that you get first dibs when ordering does open up. That's what a preorder is

That isn't true in all cases. The E90 M3 got an LCI the 2nd year of production (..and the E46 received its LCI at 2003.5, and it debuted as a 2001.....ended production 2006). In either case, I'm with most others. I'm waiting until the 2nd year of production.

I got burned on my f30, so I'll be waiting this one out for sure. The newer cars have questionable steering at best. Not in love with the f generation thus far.
It's down to the M235i and M3/4. The M235i is making a stronger case for my money. Proceeding with lots of caution and a healthy dose of skepticism following my f30 experience. |

I preordered even before the concept was out. Now it is a waiting game for the official unveil, and official ordering to begin at my dealership. Money is already down and I have verified that I have the first spot at my dealership. I am having a hard time waiting since my 2012 M3 is sold and Spring/Summer can't come fast enough.

I have a deposit in but don't consider that to be a "pre-order". Just a spot in line...

I'm waiting for the lightweight M4 in 2016 or so.

My thought is that I still have a perfectly nice E90 to drive for another year or so, and the first year of F80s will be marked up beyond oblivion. After that, there'll be the ZCP and LCI, so I may as well just wait that year and see if prices go down, there are any overheat issues, etc.

I am waiting to be shipped back to the states from OZ and hopefully by that time the comp package will be available.
I don't want this to be my 4th M car that I jump on the bandwagon too early and then the LCI/Comp packages and updates are released right after |

I want to, but I can't get one in time. The furthest out I can schedule ED is 90 days in advanced. I need to expense a corporate lease this year, so I'm ending up with a 550i w/ M-Sport.

Learned from my mistake, never going to buy/lease first wave-first generations of any cars.
Seriously, M235i is really a thing to consider at this point, looks very promising. |

Have had the last 3 generations of M3, so will likely order the M4 in 2015.
