Pictures of RK Autowerks carbon fiber intake install

So this took all day, mostly my fault because i did silly things like paint the filter tops and dye the filters. I spent almost 3 hours trying to make the filters perfectly aligned too. Didnt quite get them perfect but it looks and sounds awesome. I also found so pretty cool hose clamps.

Not a guide, just felt there were not a ton of photos of this intake and it really is an amazing looking intake... enjoy

Not sure about the hp, they say about 20, i doubt it, i did this mostly for looks/sound. Anything i pick up hp wise is a bonus.

the hose clamps are made by a company called phase 2 motortrend.

they also caused a little bit of problem, the 3.5" hose clamp was too big for the air filters and never got tight. the 3.25 fit, but i had to completely remove the screw and work really hard to even get the threads to start...

First world problems =) it came out great in the end.

The intake looks great. I just don't agree with this design. If get stuck driving in a really bad rain storm moving at 50mph the those filters are going to grab a ton of water.

I really doubt it, its like drinking water with a straw that has a hole in it, you arent going to suck water in if you can suck air in instead.. Its more likely i will need to re-oil the filter more frequently.

That being said this is my second car, it hasnt been washed since last october, i dont drive it if it even looks like it could rain =)

I'm just saying the math is there for a potential problem. A moderate to bad rain storm that puts 1 inch of rain will have 1 liter of water per square meter and if you cube that because you are moving forward then multiply that by 50 mph turns out to be lot of god dam water it's like throwing buckets of water at your intake. I have a eventuri which has the filter mounted inside the car but has ducks in the grille and I was surprised on how wet my filter were after I got hit with after driving threw real bad storm in South Carolina a few weeks ago. I'm sure it's a great intake and it looks cool as shit in the grille but there is a reason not one car manufacturer would put them there. Just be careful in a real bad rain storm maybe pull over and wait it out before hydrolock your motor. As far as motors go they can't compress water to well.

Intakes are nothing more than eye candy, not power adders.
