Look up a 4 door car and tell me how many are "classics". I know you love your F8x's, but they won't be classics. There's nothing special about them. An e30 and e36 are better drivers cars and will also be sought after.

Ive heard him say he likes the e90 M3 most among modern BMWs. So who knows.

I can already anticipate all the dealers starting to mark up leases and sticker prices of the m3s after this comment..

"well you know the guys from top gear said this is a future classic, so your really making an investment, not really a lease payment.."

Disagree. E90/E92.

Love the F80 more, but the E92 screams classic car far more than the F80 - high revving 4.0L V8, the one and only of its kind in the M platform? And he's going to pick the first turbocharged vehicle, one of many more to come? Not to mention it's the last 2 door M3. I guess I'm missing it.

The F8X feels more "revolutionary". I highly enjoy mine. However, not many things made me smile more than the previous engine. The car handled beautifully on the track, had the perfect amount of usable torque, and had the sound to boot. I guess we will have to look back on this in a few years

Exactly what I was thinking. Aside from brass era or WWII luxury cars, anything with 4 doors is not all that desirable, at least in the US. I love my F80 but wonder about the classic status.

If the next M3/M4 are 4 wheel driven like the upcoming M5, then it will have "last of its kind" status.

Perhaps MT only...OK, I'm so biased as I own two that qualify, but there are so many BMWs out there that will be considered classic at some point. Not that most will be worth anything. But some might, such as the Z8.
Chevy SS. But hell, their number is up too now that GM shuttered AUS manufacturing operations.

There's some truth into what he says. How much truth is the real question here.

I have a feeling the F82 is destined to become a giant money pit in repairs down the road. Future classic, not so much.

Your opinion may change after you drive a Giulia QV.

All I know is that my M3 makes my wang fully elongate every time I drive it. That is good enough for me!

My father-in-law inherited his father's early 90s or late 80s era Cadillac. A few years back a guy followed him home and pulled out a wad of cash $20k wanting to buy it.

He did not sell it. That is probably a once in a lifetime chance though!

Orv maybe those cars are really collectible. I have no idea. :
