Personally, if the next generation M3/M4 is like the next generation M5, I would probably go either used 911 or maybe 718 GT4 if I can get one. I don't really like the direction BMW is taking with M cars. No carbon roof? Ok, fine. No DCT? Ok fine. AWD so that it can put down the ~600 hp? Ok, fine. Sure, these changes will undoubtedly make the car faster, but to me, it's not a car I would enjoy coming from the e92 and f82. Yes, the car will probably be better in most ways (more hp, less emssions, etc), but it might not be the car for me anymore.

But hey, you never know
By that you mean the MR2? The Supra was never a sports car, it was always a GT car. If not for it's modding capability would so many adore it I wonder.

I personally loved the Supra from Gen III on. My mother had a Celica GTS new in 1986, so I had a biasedness towards Toyota. The fact a gen III could keep up with Mustangs, Camaro's and Corvette's was so cool to me. Then the 4th gen hit and it was my favorite obtainable car. Then the movie hit and it became an unobtainable car.

1000hp was always the Supra calling card. Hope some will test the new version in the same way

Interesting. I would have pegged you to reup for another F82. My m4 goes back in three months and I have already picked up its replacement...the F80 m3. In three years, I expect to go right into the G80 M3 or possibly the F90 M5. Another possibility is a Range Rover Supercharged or another x5M.
Interestingly, among all the options I have rattling around in my head, a new F82 or F80 are not among them. My car is pristine so if I wanted to stay with F82 I'd probably buy mine out even if it probably makes more sense to return it. Cheaper than new and a known commodity.

I have thought about an F83, as well as (in no particular order) M550i, X3 M40i, Macan GTS, Audi S6/S7 (If I can pick up cheap as they are about to switch over generations), Audi RS5, Audi S4 or S5 Sportback, Giulia QV, C63S sedan / convertible (don't like coupe), Audi SQ5 and some others. F-Type and Cayman too small. Everything from same class as F82 to larger / highway cruiser and SUVs.
Well, you are all over the map. I am curious to see what you end up getting. Keep me posted.
Finally decided. Order placed for SOII / Silverstone F83.

Hmm. Dare I say I told you so? I'm joking, of course. Enjoy the drop top....my last one was an E46 M3.

Thanks. I look forward to it. The last convertible I had was a 1969 Plymouth Fury (in mid 1980s). Planning on Performance Center delivery and trip to Asheville so should be fun. Seems like it will be a great car and hard to beat the lease economics.

Ditto. But used GT4 prices are kind of insane.

So are used GT3 prices. The nice thing is those cars seem to hold their value, so one can likely recoup most of the money spent.

I would like to move to some variant of a 911, or GT4 as well (and ideally keep the F80 as a DD). But that is an expensive move, especially if I keep the F80.

After now having a super sedan, I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back to something smaller again, unless specifically for weekend/track duty

Just to point this out: Those cars do have excellent resale value, but they do so usually with exceptionally low mileage and in perfect condition.

If you plan on 2-5k miles a year in perfect weather, great resale can be expected. If you want to drive something more than that....

I'd likely give up my F80 if I move to a GT4 or 911. My i3 is a perfect commuter, and the Porsche will likely be more of an enjoyable sporty drive than my F80.

A GT4 or 911 + i3 is a great combo.

A big reason I'm hesitant to give up the F80 is the uncertain future of the availability of a 6-speed.

Sure, I can get my fix from a GT4 or 911, but there's something special about a manual tranny super sedan.

Agreed on EV + an appropriate 911 being a winning combo.

You need a 911 turbo (modified if it's an older one) or GT2/3

Base 991.1 and earlier are not that great in terms of acceleration potential and even a 997.2 c4s 6mt is not as fast as I would personally prefer

If i like the G8x design and performance specs at time of release, it will likely be on my short list of cars to consider.
