M3 CS? Or go with M5 ZCP, M8, C63, 911 or whatever else?
Hello all,
I am looking for members thoughts on the M3 CS. I have a deposit on one here in Pittsburgh. build date is July. so i have a little time to think about getting this car. I had a 2017 M3 and now driving a 2017 AMG C63s. I like both cars..so it really is not one for the other. My thoughts are at this price point is the CS worth it? i keep thinking should i wait for the M8 or comp pack M5..what really sucks on the M3 CS is no Euro Delivery thanks for any input |

I might be in the minority here but I'm going to say no, no it's not worth it at that price point. A little more and you can get a GTS, or even a great condition pre-owned 991.1 GT3 (what I would take, of those 3) but to each his own.
I was able to get up close with the CS at a recent event and it just doesn't feel special or differentiated enough at that price point vs. a standard M3 or comp package but I can understand why some are a fan.

But yeah, like the poster said above, 911 is probably a better bang for your buck. I think the reason the M4 GTS was not as popular as expected was that it couldn't compete where it was priced (regardless of the rarity factor). And the M4 CS is pretty much a mini GTS... my personal opinion is that it will depreciate slightly less than a regular M4 in the future and not worth it when there are better options

I didn't think I was a Porsche kind of guy either...but then I drove the GT3. I'd say you owe it to yourself to give it a whirl and then decide.

Another thing to consider is the next generation m3 is right around the corner. Do you really want to spend 100k and have your car be outdated in a year? Depending on how long you plan on keeping the car it is something to think about...

I feel like this is always the way it happens. People don't think they will be Porsche people, then they give it a try and then they realize how amazing it is. It's like an Ascension of sorts. I never thought I would like Porsche. Then I looked into it and now it's my favorite car brand For over a year now.

From a value perspective there are better options and especially with the end of F chassis. As others have mentioned, I would spend up a little for a 911 as well.

The other p-car I'd look at in your budget is a 991.1 GTS. This is the last gen before they swapped in the new turbo engine with the refresh. Sure the turbo engine is rock solid but a chance to own the "last" NA GTS at a discounted price (1-2 years pre-owned) might be worth a look as well. Available in manual as well.

I think if you are questioning it you have your answer. Are you thinking of getting it exclusively for track duty / keeping it long term?

For me, the lack of MT is a deal breaker, but even if a MT was available I'd pass. Just not special enough for the extra money over a ZCP and near the end of the model run. If I wanted a special F8X I'd get a GTS. You can buy a new one for under $100K, amazingly enough. The GTS didn't get a lot of love, but it's a special car.

That being said, I can definitely see the value in the M3 CS, but agree that the price makes you consider other options too.

i think there's two groups who should consider the CS:
the first group are people who find full value in the additional parts that the CS has. i'm thinking folks who would fully spec an M3 including carbon ceramics, buy the GTS hood and similar CF parts anyway, love the alcantara interior and wheels...these people will end spending a hundred grand on their M3 anyway. the second group are people who really want to buy a GTS but need rear seats. |

Just curious. On the CS I would say no. Close to $100K for an M3...special edition or not, is simply not worth it. I'd go 911 at that point. The 991.2 GT3 (4.0) is my dream car, and hopefully within the next year or little more I can finally swing one. A 911 is an amazing car. Trust me, I hate all the Porsche nuthuggers as well. However, you cannot deny the driving dynamic and experience that any 911 provides over its competition...not to mention build quality.

When people talk about the 911, do they ever reference a Carrera or is it always a GT 911? The reason why I ask is because I'd eventually like to get a Carrera or a Carrera S with very few options to maximize the bang for my buck.
Just curious... |
