Interesting. On paper, it doesn't look like huge improvement over the rs... Maybe I should just keep it and mod it. Ha!

Those numbers make sense. From 0-62 the margin is small due to Audi's AWD, but in real world driving and on a track the M4 is a lot faster. If all you cared about was 0 to 60, you'd get an RS7! But you'd be bored to death in a matter of weeks.

Here is the results of the RS5 vs E92 M3 via Fastest Laps...
http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/b...audi_rs_5.html The RS5 is faster around 12 of the 15 circuits listed and quicker through the 1/4 mile. Although BMW has been a disappointment lately which is what lead me to try Audi (and I'm very glad I did), I love both companies and both cars but to think the RS5 is some kind of slouch or inferior to the E92 on the track is just blasphemy!

The one thing we do know is that the M4 is faster than the E92 M3 in pretty much every way. |

Bmw say it is ... BUT which is real Nordschleife time? Bmw say 7'50" but in this Autozeitung test the result is another. Probably the weather conditions, probably the driver but it doesn't seem faster

"Torsen-based quattro system also offers an advantage..while braking" this is only theoretically true under low load. Under full load, ABS breaking, the 4wheel drive system is interfering with the ABS control system in a negative way and is not supporting the brakes. Therefore it might increases the stopping distance or being neutral. The reason why the Audi is stopping faster is because Audi spend more time on calibrating the ABS System of the CCB+tires, definitely not because of "quattro" And there is a Panamera 4 which I was referring to, with front engine and 4 wheel drive. |

I ALMOST believed BMW when they said this car was lighter than the prior version. I weighed my E90 M3 last week: 3620lbs. LOL @ only 60lbs less than this M4 that has carbon roof and carbon brakes. Mine has DCT, leather, nav, cold weather, competition, premium pkgs ... All this ALLEGED weight savings is a joke.

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream. - Jeremy Clarkson, discussing the S65 and then S55 M3 engines. |

I think we often get too obsessed with lap times that a professional driver sets on a track with so many variables.
For me at least, my E92 M (and my F82 soon) is my only car. I actually do have to use it to go get groceries, go get my hair cut in 95 degree weather, go to dinner and things people generally use cars for. I also do track it pretty hard. I have one parking spot in my condo and I love that I can take my parents on a road trip, thanks to the 4 seats or I can go on a drive with my friends who have cars varying from an Exige S to a P85 or go on a date and not look out of place. Honestly, if the M4 remains the most complete 2+2 sub-100k GT car, I'll be happy. If a C7 Vette beats it in some test or some other car in another - I won't care. It just has to keep driving in any scenario fun. |

The M4 will be quicker than the e92, but in the same league. Quote:
10-15s faster than unknown = unknown If they step up and actually quote a lap time, fine, but they DID NOT say 10-15 sec faster than the Sport Auto Test result of 8:05. Unknown - 10 sec = Unknown !!! Sorry for rant, but BMW get no respect for not quoting lap times. The good news is the Sport Auto test is around the corner. Last edited by turbo8765; 06-08-2014 at 10:43 AM.. Reason: spelling |

When the thread was originally posted, it said the lap was on the Nurburgring GP track, which was incorrect. People started looking up lap times for that track instead of the Autozeitung Test Track config (same track, different configuration).

26. M3 1'38"70 30. M4 1'38"90 I'm sure the M4 will be the best M BUT Bmw Marketing said it'd be much much faster and much lighter then e92 . I think that's not true |
