Its got that weird akra muted velvety tone which some love, but yeah, as a filter to the odd cow-mower-leaf-blower sound. Its like $8000 bathroom air freshener.

And this coming from someone with an E-race S85.

What's "Amazing" is that some folks actually think that it sounds good.

never driven it but i can take a shitty camera phone video of my existing car and i can say it sounds badass still lol.

note: I'm not denying the performance though at all. just wish it had some more emotional aspect.

You need to go drive one and your sound/emotional side will be satisfied. Trust me I don't like turbos and I'm running E-race on my E60 and the M3/M4 though it's a different sound it is not a sound to be embarrassed about. It's pretty bad ass with the windows down!

ive been through the turbo stuff and had my car sound like a 747..yes it sounds good but not as good and i'm actually over it. i mean, if the car has active sound, can't they make it sound as good as they want!?!!

I haven't driven an M3/4 yet, but I was really pleased with the sound of the M235i I test drove. It's obviously very different from the S65 in my M3, but still a great sound.

Driving it will not fix the sound . The answer is no but I have heard them out in the wild and words "Good" or "Amazing" are not distilled after consulting my ears.

It's all good, but can not stress that a good drive with windows down so you get the raw exhaust sound is a must! Highly suggest throwing a tunnel in and if you still don't like then well you can't please everyone.

I have people that don't like the e-race (1M) driver I have more people that want to hear more of the E and I can tell you I was a huge doubter of the F8x sound. Not any more, I think they've done a great job for a turbo car!

Cheers!

You just made me watch 30sec of this insufferable douchbag

I literally could not watch most of this review when posted he is horrid.

You'll never get good audio; best example of this is watch Top-fuel drags on TV then go to a race and tell me it's not one of the most intense sounds you'll ever hear, see and feel. Haha... Not saying an F8x is that, but I'm telling you it sounds way better in person.

Don't be afraid go drive it

At least I teed it up for you . Not afraid to drive it and will when I get around to it. I will look at the car in a more serious light after all of hype and dust settles. I never buy first year anyhow so it won't be on the radar for a couple of years post LCI/ZCP. I'm sure that its a fine machine.

I heard this down at bimmerfest east this weekend getting the piss revved out of it. It just doesn't sound good, at all. It's the loudest factory PE I've ever heard, but loud doesn't mean good. I'm pissed off!
