kinda pissed....
i recently recieved some frustrating news.....
i called the BMW NA number yesterday and they told me the car was expected for delivery at my dealer this friday.... BUT -- my CA just emailed me saying he heard from the VPC and this was the message "R/R door interior panel lock missing contact me next Monday for an update on this one." Gotta say im pretty bummed -- when i initially ordered the car they told me it could be as little as six weeks - i took that with a grain of salt and of course soon after they told me itd likely be the end of april..... Now, im pushing double that!!! Ill give my CA props - he has been very diligent about following up on the car, and i have no qualms with him or how he has handled the situation --- but BMW however is disappointing me...... i had a custom built manual IS250 come from japan with no issues or delays whatsoever.... this is a car that costs more than twice that amount and it didnt go through quality assurance before leaving the factory in germany such that someone would notice that a lock on a door was missing???????? this will be my first bmw - i dont even have it yet and its had an issue..... to say im a bit nervous and disappointed is an understatement, especially considering how excited for this car i have been - i can only hope this isnt foreshadowing for future issues with BMW I know i should be patient - but my situation is somewhat unique in that i start my internship this summer and really wanted the car for all the free time i have from now until then.... of course ill be happy to get the car regardless but in the time since the car has been delayed i have driven almost 6000 miles in this IS....(i drove all up and down the east coast visiting friends etc) and those all could have been miles on my M3 - allowing me to break it in and truly enjoy it before grueling work hours and a presumably brutal winter hit. |

First of all, congrats!
But you gotta chill man. It'll get here soon enough and you'll be over the moon. You just gotta drive it that much harder after work, maybe go to the track on weekends

That is a risk you take when you order a car instead of taking one off the lot.
In addition, the VPC inspection is also part of the inspection process, so I think its unfair to blame them for a problem they caught before the car was released to the dealership. Last edited by Wah; 04-30-2015 at 09:20 AM.. |

The wait is worth it I promise. My car is also at VPC right now! I have had my order in place since January. Most orders take 7-9 weeks, 6 weeks is a little light for an M car plus shipping and processing. Also your CA is a very cool person. Most CA's wouldn't tell a client details of what happen at VPC because they get worried about their car. I also am very honest with my clients but sometimes its out of our hands and nothing we can do but take the heat. The wait is almost over! Don't be pissed be pumped!

It will be worth it buddy. Most of us that placed ordered last year kept getting pushed back due to carbon roof. My order was pushed back like 4-5 times right when it was about to hit production. It will be all smiles once you take delivery

Although I truly believe that BMW is the best auto brand in the world, they are far from perfect. I remember when I special ordered my E92 M3 and it took me 4.5 months to get because it spent 2 weeks at the Germany port with no apparent reason. I was FURIOUS! But that all went away once I got my M3 and I drove her home. I have no doubts that you will feel the same and I'm sure I waited longer for my E92 M3 than you are for your F80 M3. Relax man. Light is at the end of the tunnel and you'll soon be driving your car with the whole summer (and half of spring) ahead of you!

It will all be good man! I was at the factory in Munich on Monday and I can assure you this is the execution to the rule there. The precision and processes that go into their assemble is amazing.

At least yours is on the way... my dealer is scouring the entire united states to get an allocation for a 2015 and after having thought they secured it were told no. So most likely ill be getting a 2016 taking delivery in the fall ready for the snow to come

There are those who are desperately searching for an F8x allocation and can't get them and will be "stuck" with not getting their cars till the fall/winter. And of course, there are those who aren't able to get F8x's at all..... A week or two extra is nothing compared to the overall joy you'll get. Be glad the VPC is doing its' job as well as it is First world problems.....we're fortunate to have them Enjoy!

I ordered first of December and mine is to arrive in CA by the end of the week. Delays are expected. I'm sure all your frustration will go away when driving her home! Congrats and good luck

my frustration more stemmed from the fact that its a 75000 dollar car and it left the factory missing a piece.... kinda hard to fathom but ive cooled down now haha from what ive heard the winter tires in these sizes tend to go out of stock pretty quickly.... ill probably try to order mine in september ish to make sure i can drive the car this winter (we had the coldest recorded winter in history this past year where i live and the 5th most snowfall in recorded history - pretty sure PSS would not do well) |
