When would the 2016 M3/M4 changes and options be released?

Hey guys, so I am looking to ED my M4 and was aiming for April/May but am curious, I know the next year models usually start coming out around Summer? If I am correct? So I am considering holding off until then.

Do we have any idea of any info for the 2016's? I am worried of like updated taillights/competition package being available for those wondering. (Especially with the recent news of the updated taillights in the 3 series).

What is the year BMW usually brings out the compettion package option?

Thank you all and happy holidays!

I may be wrong, but I doubt we'll see a Comp pack this early in the game. There is too much time left in the generation to just be shooting the wad off prematurely.

2016 should be this summer as well... I could be wrong on both accounts, but this is what I've seen so far.

Ya I am skeptical on the comp package due to the last generations M3 having the comp package come out 4 years out from release.

Usually new MY are released in the fall. New models or LCI can sometimes be releases earler. So ED in April/May will more than likely land you a 2015 MY IMO.

Competition package for E46 M3 came last two model years (05-06). And for the E9x M3 came last three model years (2011-13).

My guess is at least another year or two.

Only argument for it coming early, is the F10 M5. It only took a year for the Competition package to show up on 2014 models.

I also think BMW will be motivated to release the competition package a bit early to compete with the new C63 and also to ensure enough performance spread with the M2

My question is simply this. How soon will ED be available when new model year starts? If SOP is 7/15 can I get the car in the beginning of August. I would think yes, but interested if anyone has first hand info.

BMW should have a cut-off date when taking orders. So if you order by xx, you'll remain MY15. If you order after xx, you'll get MY16.

Maybe they will release a comp pack early, bit I thought the reason the F10 came out earlier was reviewer criticism.

Haha my thoughts too but I will be furious if the Comp Package is released 2016...I worry like how the M5 was released early.

Exactly the 2015 M5 through it off...

Well, people started taking delivery in July, so I'd expect sometime around there.

The Comp package has historically been upgraded rims/rotors, a little bit more power (M5, not e92 or 46), and some aesthetics (alcantara steering wheel for the e46 I think). Possibly they may remap the dampers if you went with the adaptive suspension, but I don't think it's worth the wait...most if not all could be done and bested with aftermarket parts.

True except many like the fact that BMW is adjusting the dampers and doing the power bump... on the power bump mainly because you still have a warranty.

Completely agree-but again, I'm sure they'll offer an aftermarket bump too, like they did with the M235i and the PPK for the N55 engines. That should come with a warranty too...regardless it's all speculation at this point.

Hmm interesting point because see my 335is had a power bump from the normal 335. Now that the M3/4 is turbo I worry about a power bump now but even then aftermarket mods should help.

All I know is that the 2016 M3 and M4 will have cosmetic enhancements. So far I know is that it will come with Black Chrome Grill. That will start appearing in the late production of the 2015 line.

If this is true, then I might scratch Black Sapphire off my list and go with another color. I really dig Black Sapphire with a silver chrome grill.

I heard new rear LED lights, maybe new color combinations, and possibly minor software updates to iDrive.

I hope we get confirmation soon of the extent of changes. I'm hoping May 7th when the 3 series lci is supposedly going to be revealed. My local dealer might have a June m3 allocation and with the deals to be had now I might commit. However with all the build delays it might push it back to a 16 build who knows.
