That is short. Normally it is about 3 hours if nothing goes wrong.

Wow, I haven't heard of other dealerships giving fair pricing like this. Paying an hour of shop time even at a dealership rate should be standard operating procedure.

Just ask for the detailed report of the I-step update, it's usually many pages with details of every ECU's firmware (old, new). Insist you want the report... |

Wait, we have to pay to have updates done?
New to the updating procedures so I apologize if that's standard method when updating BMW's. |

I saw something in an old software thread about the HUD changing to blue or something? Any truth to that? |

GlazierGlaze , yes your HUD will get more visible colours, this is old news ... (since 56.x) but its nice.
OhioRiderAaron , BMW will update software under warranty for the stupidest reasons sometimes: iDrive issues, BT conn issues, ... |

The tech only has to set the car up for programming which will take 10-15 minutes tops and start the session then periodically check it to make sure nothing happened like a Module crashed or the session timed out but it's not like they have to babysit the car during the entire programming process. |

...that said, if there's an observable trend with dealerships quoting folks lower than before, then perhaps that puts wind in the sails of speculation that BMW has given 'latest firmware on ECUs' a higher priority than before, possibly via subsidy etc. We could be entering a new era where routine maintenance visits more often than not involve updates without request, and possibly even involve mandated updates irrespective of what customers' wishes are... and if we did enter a world that looked this way, it'd tip the scales on the piggyback-vs-bench-flash axis... </speculation> |

Here are the differences I noticed ASD Less in your face Not as loud Very natural sounding I'm hearing more interior rattling now ! ESP + Damper A lot less of that jittery rebounds I feel the car is more planted ! Steering Not as heavy More gradual DCT OMG ! Smooth smooth This is the biggest difference IMO Placebo +/- 20% ! |

^^^ what was your previous Istep? Depending on that, I'd say placebo may be as high as 90%

Got the update I was a very old istep, from back in 2014.
-Car seems to put down power much better. -Suspension seems way more planted -Steering seems heavy but more feeling/less resistance to turn where I want -Engine note seems throatier -DCT is so much smoother -No changes to iDrive/HUD - Colors are the same for me Felt like car was riding on rails on way home, so much more responsive. Just had GTS DCT, Diff, Steering, and ZCP comp back coded along with all of my old coding, about to hop into the car to feel some more of the changes. Can't wait! |

So ... just did the usual Coding on the car
The Following still work: Turns On Left Tail-light (Inner Part) on with DRL Turns On Right Tail-light (Inner Part) on with DRL Turns On Left Tail-light (Outer Part) on with DRL Turns On Right Tail-light (Outer Part) on with DRL Door handle LEDs light up when engaged in Reverse Separates Ambient Light Level and Instrument Cluster Light Level Mirror Fold Delay = 0 Sec Turns off radio and navigation when the driver door is opened Auto-Start-Stop set to ‘Off’ at every startup Activates ‘Easy Entry’ These no longer work: Change the triple blinker blinks to any amount. (Value is XX + 1) Video In Motion I think VIM hasn't worked since v58. Anyone got a solution for Blinker Amount ? Cheers |
