Apple CarPlay and iOS 10.3 on MY '17 M3
For those of us using Apple CarPlay, Apple release it's newest OS today and it seems to have fixed some of my more significant gripes with CarPlay on the MY 17 M3.
I was experiencing issues where CarPlay would intermittently work with my iPhone 7 Plus (noticed primarily when I had the device connected via USB) and while there is still a delay, the inconsistent connection seems to have been resolved. They have added some nice little shortcuts (although to the left hand side of the CarPlay menu) to get to common apps versus having to hit Back and navigate. Unfortunately, it appears that it's trying to get me to go to Apple Maps constantly, but that's another story.. Hopefully others are having positive experiences as well. |

Here's a quick review of it (not in an M3 or 3 Series obviously).

They also have an 'Up Next' option in the Music screen that, if selected, shows you the upcoming songs

I haven't found a way to charge the iPhone via one of the built-in USBs and use CarPlay at the same time. It just doesn't want to charge when plugged in; I have to switch modes from CarPlay to IDrive. Has anyone else experienced that?

I wish the notification for new texts was more prominent. A notification pops up on the middle screen, but that's easy to miss. They should have a chime with an adjustable volume that gives you an audible alert of a new text.

There is something wrong with your iPhone as the OEM USB charging has nothing to do with CarPlay. If anything, your iPhone problem is that once it connects to CarPlay it shuts down it charging process.
Update your iPhone firmware or try another iPhone. |
