Is there a way...

To code the car to start in my M2 mode (Everything sport plus except steering. Sports HUD)? Just curious. Thanks!

Unfortunately no. BMW really makes it difficult for default settings in all of the models.

What I do is press the on/off switch without using the brake pedal, press M2, and then start again pressing on the pedal. On M2 mode basically right away this way...

There is an embedded project with development underway that aims to deliver Drive-Off Mode Automation, which would be user-configurable. Timeline to market is unknown and at least one of the developers has been denied the ability to purchase advertising on Bimmerpost, so news about its development and launch may not filter onto this board directly.

Not trying to be a jerk, but how is that any different than just pressing the M2 button after starting the engine?

No difference afaik, unless the accelerator pedal is tapped before startup, in which case, louder.

Is it louder? If I hit start button without brake pedal then press accelerator pedal, I hear the exhaust valves open, but then starting the car it seems like they must close back up because it sounds normal. I have the Macht Schnell EVC and starting car with that in open position is much louder. Is that overruling the position of the valves? I have it set up to boot in default mode.

I've got no knowledge of that EVC whatsoever, but IME, the valves will not close back up when:
1. ignition on, pre-turnover, throttle/power mode is set to Sport or Sport+
2. Accellerator is tapped
3. Brake/Clutch depressed and Start Engine button depressed again, to fire upthe engine.

It has been this way for me since the purchase of my car, and across both NA and EU DME flashes.

OK, mine definitely closes back up during step 3. Maybe having the EVC installed affects it.

If I set the EVC to open before turning on the car, it stays open.

Never tried those steps before installing the EVC so I've just been wondering.

The only EVC I'm familiar with is the BMS one, which takes a few moments after ignition to kick into its application state.

Aside from that, my 'most complicated EVC ever' project:
