mine is different

I have to say after I read topics like this, that mine M4 cabrio CP have some kind of unlock after 2000km service. Car is more agile, transmission behavior is more aggresive and holds rpm in higher. Overal more agresive.

It's a placebo effect combined with the fact the you can now rev the car to redline that makes you think it's faster and more agile. It's not. It's the same car but you had to nanny it before and now you don't.

+1... you really need to be on the high end of the rev range to feel full power. Much different power curve compared to my N54.

No no, I drove M4 every day in those 2000kms, try everything, sometimes full power too, red line rpms, but then I go to the service and SA tells me that they will unlock it. I never heard it before, so I checked forums and found that you people descuss it. I know how feels the power in M4 coupe (not CP) and I though my cabrio is little weaker because of +300kgs weight. But now is competetive to that coupe. I'm 100% sure that mine M4 is now different. Maybe the power is close the same, because onboard clusters shows maximum +/- 335kw before and now max to 350kw full throttle, but rpms and engine behavior is better. Maybe it just because oil change? By the way, when I surprisingly ask SA about it, he shows me some BMW list of tasks, and there was any unlocking item.

well that's good then.

Speaking of HP, after my breaking service, I programmed my M1 button to Sports Throttle + Sports Suspension + Comfort Steering + D2 Automatic Gear Shifts and was cruising at around 80 KM/H then floored it, by the time I reached 170 KM/H the BHP on the digital gauges in the iDrive reached 480 BHP and 390 lbs-ft of torque

People say the competition package doesn't really feel that much faster with the extra 19 BHP but there's something about the power delivery that actually does make it feel faster. I have the Convertible 2918 M4 Convertible

On my previous 2017 M4 convertible I was only able to reach to 440 BPH on that digital BHP/Torque display

Speaking of convertible and the added weight, I feel its plenty fast for every day driving and don't forget when the top is down, we have more weight on the rear which translates into slightly better traction and thus slightly better power delivery to the tarmac

That's why I keep my passengers in the trunk

Why did you change cabrio to cabrio? Do you think one can trust digital gauges?

So, having read these threads I bit and said, oh yea why do you say that? He responded "oh man, during the first 1200 miles the accelerator is limited, so your going to feel a huge difference in power when this is done, just wait".
Can't fix stupid I guess. I wouldn't want that guy working on my car.

A foreman at my closest BMW dealership told me over the phone that although they can't change the manual transmission oil as part of my car's upcoming 1,200 mile service, they WILL "unlock a bit more power" for me.

So this Thursday, I expect to bring them my stock M4 and return home a few hours later with a formidable GTR-slayer.

The foreman doesn't know what he is talking about as all power is immediately available from the factory and there is nothing to "unlock".

My car seems to require a little more gas pedal to get going following the service. Anyone else had this experience?

These posts are all over the place. :

I’m wondering if some cars had the adaptive reset done and others not? This refresh might cause some to feel like more power has been added, when actually all they’ve done is wipe out your throttle habits.

I’m in next week for mine and I’m planning to ask for the adaptive reset as I’ve been driving like a pussy, , till my 1200 mileage requirement.

Trying to read up on this since my new purchase.
It seems like different beliefs in power increase everywhere....
Here is a video I found on an M car (not an M3 or M4 though) that was put on a dyno before and right after service. Very interesting and surprising to see about a 30HP gain....
