M Badge on seat looks like it's cracking - will BMW replace them?

Just an FYI, I had my originals replaced under warranty with no hassle at all. The new ones have been on the car for about 5 months...and the passenger side is cracking again...I think it's UV related. Almost no one rides in the passenger side. The car is garaged and the only time it sits the sun is at work. There, the sun screen goes up immediately, and 35 percent tint all around and to no avail...

I understand why BMW went with the black label now, the original will not stand the test of time at all. Crappy supplier?

Mine is going in yet again for this repair (drivers side emblem). This will be the second time. This time I am telling them to just leave the plastic covering on.

I wonder why they just can't swap these out for the blacks one unless they also have issues.

Any owners with the black emblem want to chime in? How do your emblems look after a few months of ownership?

I'm going to ask my SA about it. I really like the silver one but would rather have the black if its not cracking.

From what I saw they were like $100-120 each.

Expensive part to look like shit over time. It's such a superfluous feature... It's interesting that with the complexity of the seat as it is, that this was a "final design feature".

Just bought a 2015 CPO with <10k miles. Mine has cracks. Possibly been sitting outside from prior ownership. Might swing by dealer sometime to see what they can do about it.

They replaced mine no questions asked. You shouldn't have any problems.

Mine will be getting replaced next week, as well as my entire passenger seat (stitching is coming apart in the bolster with ~40000km on it).

As others have said, no questions asked -- they'll book you in and replace them.

Funny thing, I also noticed the stitching on mine coming apart (front passenger seat)' and I barely broke 23K miles. I'm going to have the dealer check it out!

Mine looks to be fine but i want the newer black M3 seat logo. Anyone know how I can install these myself. How do I remove the rear seat cover shell.

Dealership ordered replacements for me under warranty. I guess I will know tomorrow if they are silver or the new black ones.

I'm shocked no one has made a high-quality aftermarket metal piece to replace these plastic ones. Doesn't need to be lit, just an etched ///M in aluminum. Maybe cost/volume problem?

I just got mine replaced under warranty with the black ones. I specifically asked for them (even provided the part number to make things easier), making a case that the grey ones would just fail again and I didn't want my seat covers taken apart more than once for this warranty repair.

The cost of the grey vs black ones is the same so this should pretty much be a no-brainer for any dealer. I think they definitely do look better than the grey ones, especially with my cloth interior.

For the Black M3 emblem I provided them p/n: 52108089598 - I found it searching the net and forums. I know they verified the p/n prior to ordering the parts, but they never confirmed it with me though prior to installation.

I see you have an M4 according to your avatar. For the Black M4 emblem, I believe the p/n is 52108089597, but you will need to verify.
