Sticky console buttons

A month ago juice spilled on console buttons. I just wiped out the tops and all was well. So well that I thought the buttons were maybe hermetically sealed. Now one month later the throttle response/power and steering buttons are sticky/hard. What's the best fix? Pull unit up and clean properly? Is there a DIY/good tips before I go ripping stuff up?

Car has DCT

Smile Juice, yet another Beverage Not Allowed in the Car

I have to ask, because it just begs the question: Did this happen when you were eating a cupcake?? Or did your tie get in the way?

Um, No. Two small sized cups with natural green juice (no lattes) were in the cup holders. No other food items were in the car nor was anything being/has been consumed in the car(especially not cupcakes). Juices were being transported home and I was the Transporter. Sometimes it's hard not to enjoy the performance of the car. Got home and realized the cup covers were not as secure at they should have been. Hence the spill.

No tie. Polo shirt. Spizer will release the others facts at the next briefing.

Go to the hardware store and buy some flux brushes; they will be in the plumbing section. You can trim these to make a stiffer bristle brush that will get into crevices. The alcohol/water mix is best, but I would add to use distilled water so that no residue is left behind; a little overkill, but small investment.

I used to do electronic component repair and straight 90% Isopropyl Alcohol will typically work fine also on anything stubborn. The only thing you need to be careful of is any printing/labels that may be on the components. Most won't be affected, but alcohol will dissolve some. Painter's tape can help protect anything you may be concerned about.

I would start with the weaker solution and work up as needed.

I would not use contact cleaner as it typically has a small amount of lubricant in it also which can leave a residue that will be absorbed by some plastics making them shiny.
