agree here.

also, it needs to be taken into consideration that altitude was a small, but notable factor here. an SC kit makes static amounts of boost, and does not change in different air conditions as a turbo motor does.

the reason for this is that the boost is controlled mechanically by a pulley size on an SC kit. on a modern turbo car, the ECU can, to a point, increase the boost to make sure the car has the appropriate amount of oxygen going into the motor.

that said, the turbo car still suffers altitude affects, just not to the degree that an SC or N/A car does

I'm guessing the guy in that vid had traction problems early on and was going easy on the gear shifts through the first few gears, which is why the F80 was blowing past him yet the ultimate trap speeds show the supercharged e9x catching up.

Let's be clear: The f80 was built for this power and still has problems putting it down. The e9x was not built for that power and has more traction issues as a result....RWD platforms at these power levels are tricksy SOBs to drive hard, even in a straight line.
traction is not a major factor, this was a roll race, not a race from a dig

Yes, the 595 kit still makes 400whp at 7,000 RPM. It would still immediately start pulling on a stock F80 considering this a rolling race; traction has very little bearing.

I'm having a hard time finding data points to support this outcome. Maybe the E92 driver started too low at 5,000 RPM?

Also, my point is that the F80 m3's results are not necessarily indicative of a significantly underrated engine. People are thinking of peak HP as if it's the end all be all, but that's just a unit of measurement at a fixed point in time.

The F80 is putting ALOT more power (it's peak power) to the ground at the "bottom" of each gear - when those other cars are now at their lowest power potential outside of 1st gear.

This is a power curve pretty unfamiliar to this world - where power stays flat/peaked during the entire shift window. It's not representative of a purely under-rated engine, it's representative of an engine doing more work during every moment outside of that peak HP moment....

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say.

Does a hard-shifting DCT running shorter gearing on a supercharged e9x making ~400 engine torque shifting under max throttle not have problems putting down power in 2nd and 3rd gears upon the shift?

Seriously man, see my other post though - why would traction NOT be an issue in this application? That a seriously short geared, semi-short-wheelbase RWD car putting down ridiculous wtq (after gearing) in a very, very fast shifting transmission.

How is traction NOT a major factor shifting into 2nd and 3rd gears? If it was me, I'd either have DSC intruding OR I'd have to back off the throttle going into the next gear in order to maintain traction through the shift.

My Vette in stock form would light up top of 2nd gear on a cold night or when the tires aren't properly warmed up. I assume in this video that the cars' tires have all been warmed up, but one will never know.

F80/82 is the new king. I knew it was fast but these results are impressive and undeniable. And with a manual!
