M3 from 335 M Sport

Hi all,

I’ve always wanted a genuine M and I’m now,in a position to look at an M3 Competition Pack in the next year. I currently have a 335 with M pack and lots of options (see signature) and am curious as to thoughts of anyone else who’s done the same.

The only real concerns that I have (well, thoughts, not really concerns) is that my 2013 335 is virtually identical in fitout ‘style’ and also the ride in the 335 is a bit rough.

Yeah. Yeah. I know it’s a different car, just that the cabin looks VERY 2013...

Comment away.

I went from a 2013 335i with Msport pack, MPerformance exhaust, MPPK, to a 2015/16 M3.

The only reason i did it was because my lease was up, good timing, good deal on trade, demonstrator M3, and better interest rate etc.

If i was buying the M3 outright new there is NO WAY i would of done it. The car is WAY TOO similiar to the 335.

Some observations:

Interior almost identical in both, now dated and cheap looking.
Same crappy crashy clunky suspension in both
Both cars sink/lean unevenly over the back right wheel.
M3 is only slightly faster, however that is irrelevant on Sydney streets.
335 sounded better.
M3 looks better.

All i can say is you need to drive a couple.. you may end up with a totally different opinion to mine!

Well, i guess an alternative would be a C63s.

I'd go for a demostrator / 1yr old C63 over a new M3. Would have to be around the same price i would think.

New is a waste of money, even if you have it... IMO!

C63 is heavy and weird to drive. M3 mate and comp pack if you can, freakin’ awesome!

Driven both and the M3 wins by a long long way in many regards.

While the C63 May look better interior wise, the quality of leather and materials is better in the bmw imo.

The only think lacking on the M3 competition was the exhaust note. I promptly fixed that with the m performance exhaust.

I’m considering M performance exhaust. Can I ask what you paid fully installed?

Just a couple of things.

1. You have always wanted an M car - me too, so you should get one. Once you have had one, you can decide if they are for you. It's not a lifelong commitment.

2. If you don't like the interior, then change over to something else - My daily driver is now a Porsche Macan. I really don't like the interior of that and the ergonomics are rubbish compared to the BMW. I think the BMW interiors are quite plain and simple and in 10 years time they still look OK, but each to their own.

3. If you think it's going to be nearly the same as your 335, and it will be close, then don't bother. I had a E93 335 and there's a massive difference between the two.
