Looking for M4 LED Headlights

I realize it's a long shot but I thought I would throw it out there. I didn't check the box for LED lights and now regret it.

You and everybody else, can you also code and redo the wiring harness?

Coding and wiring harness are easy, finding the lights are not.

I don't think it is as simple as you guys think.

Looks like the LED headlight parts is around $1200 US each side * 2 = $2400 US already.

IND distribution did this LED retrofit swap a couple of years back on a F10 pre LCI M5 and had a thread of this retrofit, they encountered wiring harness difference on top of re-programming. In the end, it was done but not as simple of just coding.

Therefore, do your homework before even ordering the LED headlights.

For example, the F10 M5 changing out from HID to LED. Parts alone is $6000. For the F8X, the price for the same should be similar or not a whole lot less.

I know you can buy new LED housing from the dealer for $1400 each side nut you need to buy 4 ECUS plus do the coding. it's been done by OneeightyNYC.

I wouldn't loose sleep over it, I had the LED with my previous 435 they rocked but unless your doing a lot of highway driving their useless other than for their looks.

I have xenons on the M and difference was noticeable for me a first since I was accustomed to the different color light emitted but now I'm fine without them and probably wont go back unless they become cheaper...

Thanks, since I've been driving I've realized it's not that big a deal. The xenons are just fine

I've only come to realize it after I got my car, that the LED lights look nicer than the Xenon ones, couldn't care much about the lighting aspect though. I don't do any rural driving...

The LED lights do cut through the rain and light up the road much better. Where as the hid during rain make it seem like your lights are not on .

It was a deal breaker for me. I love the aggressive aesthetics that the LED headlights gave the M.

it doesn't matter about rain since I store my M4. The winters suck in Ontario, salt has already been thrown. I have my new F150 ready for the winter.

I don't regret getting the LEDs. But, for those of you that have the HID setup, you guys have a much crisper light beam cut-off. You know, like that bluish-purple cutoff. So if your into that kinda thing....plus one for HID setup.

Light output is almost identical for both LED and HID.

Halogens vs. LEDs (again)

Well, maybe not. The Institute for Highway Safety just headlight ratings after extensive testing. The BMW 3 Series halogens ranked "Poor", while the LED version was in the top 1/3 of cars tested with a "Marginal" rating. Note that only one system out of 82 tested was rated as good, the Toyota Prius V LED.

"Among the 44 headlight systems earning a poor rating, the halogen lights on the BMW 3 series are the worst. A driver with those headlights would have to be going 35 mph or slower to stop in time for an obstacle in the travel lane. A better choice for the same car is an LED curve-adaptive system with high-beam assist, a combination that rates marginal."
