Got the new constant contact 5P whatever they are. They suck I am completely upset about these tires. The grip is just terrible.

How many miles do you have on them?

Most tires suck for the first 500 to 600 miles. Full tread = squirm and instability as well as the release agent that has to be worn off.

Maybeb 100 if that. The tires are super noisy tho and around about 110 it doesn't feel as stable.

That is the tread squirm. It's normal for all new tires. Even the PSS's don't feel all the confident inspiring for the first 500 miles. Mine are just now starting to come in a little after 700 miles.

I took a corner on the freeway a little fast with about 300 miles on it and hit a bump in the road in the corner and the ass end squirmed a little and I have the PSS's. Its the tread on the tires. Give them time to wear down a little.

As tires wear they get more stable, they may lose a little grip, but they get more stable.

That is why racers shave tires for the track.

Also, it takes Max. Performance category tires about 1500 miles to fully reach their potential, and about 1000 miles for extreme performance tires to fully come-in based upon my experience.

yeah. hmmmm. i got a flat in my left rear this week. went to the dealer to get it replaced. no michelin pss in stock inventory. so they gave me an x5 loaner until they could figure out a solution. turns out the pss is not available until jan '16. so they offered me the contis that everyone seems to be dissing. or the predecessor to the michelin pss - the michelin pilot sport 2 (ps2). i went with the ps2. i had all four replaced as i have 11,000 miles on the tyres and only had 2/32 tread on the rears (my drifting skills have increased substantially! ). it took the dealer a few days to get the ps2 and install them. picked it up last night. haven't driven it yet except from the dealer to home.

Not sure why everyone disses the conti's so much. Not a bad tire at all. That's what they had on the M's at the performance center, and I was quite impressed with their grip.

The PSS seem to be back in stock for many tire sizes, particularly ones that previously showed out of stock and no ETA.

I got the contis on mine. I do t think they are as bad as some on here say, but the pss are definitely better. The cars at PCD have them because conti is their sponsor, not because they choose the conti over the pss.

I got a set of replacement 5Ps after a punctured MPSS - I'm convinced that they are louder (road surfaces vary of course).. would be very interested if anyone (& their friends) have been able to do any back-back noise/road-tests) - or has the same opinion?

For some reason I can't stand the Contis heres why, they were magnets to road hazard, never had do many flats! out of any tire. Worse part as the tread becomes less, the tire rides harder and tires appear to whine.

Now as comparison I just put 20g miles on my PSS, never a flat road hazard or otherwise, wear perfect, front tires although I replaced had at least 5g left on tires. Tires were equally smooth going down road even after those miles, in fact other than 20g causing lesser grip, couldn't tell I got new tires.

BTW 1g miles on Bridgestones today. since could not get the PSS., but so far liking these tires.

Michelin and Continental, BOTH German tire companies, I think BMW just rotates between both, but IMO Michelin builds a better product.

Michelin is actually a French company but they're still probably the biggest producers of performance tires in the world. People seem to love the PSS for the most part but my experience with my first and definitely last set on my E92 had been disappointing. They seem to be puncture magnets and I never experienced the impressive grip they are supposed to have. The only positive quality I've noticed is the durability; there's plenty of tread left after 10k miles. Other members of this forum with similar production dates to mine received the Contis so I'm actually hoping for those when I pick my M4 up Monday. I wish they'd go back to putting Pirelli P-Zero tires on these cars. They may not last as many miles but at least those miles are driven with some super sticky rubber and incredible grip.

I had to replace with contis at the dealer, and i want to sell my car now. Not only does the sidewall look like shit, the tires have less tread, and they are worse all around.

Same issue i ran into with PSS vs PZERO on my m6.

Why did you have to replace with Conti's ?? Did you get a puncture/ flat in one and have to replace all??

Are you Leasing the Car??

Im just curious as I am leasing and my rears are starting to look a lil worn but I have found some stock rears through a tire dealer and will just be purchasing them... especially before it becomes too hard to find another set.

AND THEY LOOK GREAT!!!

Here's some photos:

Looks good.

Also good thing you didn't get continental, they make a great tire but my experience with the DWS is they're a very soft compound, I'm running a lot of low end boost and with 295/35/R19 Pilot Super Sports in the rear they hook up pretty decently when warm.

Cold, I can do burn out's at 55/60 in 3rd when wide open. Curious what tire pressure everyone is running in cold weather?

Oh one more thing, the only tires I trust on my bikes is Bridge Stone, I have Dual Compound S20's on my R1, and my GSX-R and CBR had Bridgestone Battlax, great tires even in the rain, Dunlop get removed off of anything I buy. Sorry Dunlop!

Just ordered the bmw specific Michelins 295/35/19's at my local discount tire. He had to make a few calls but he got them. What a fair price to sell the OEM 255/35/19's for? Only 130 miles on them right now.
