Thanks.
I am running BM3 Stg2 OTS map for over a year.
Do you think it was the tune putting down extra?

I'm not sure how to interpret the fact that a lot of these m's are tuned and putting down a lot at the wheels and not seeing any issues.

Most of these failures seem to be from tuning, from as little as stage 1 to crazy e85 and upgraded turbos. Is there a high risk for this failure to recur after repair when running a tune?

If it's a matter of time on any car....what's the precipitating factor?

Are people babying their m3 after repair? Cause that can't be right! It's a frickin m3!!!

Full Akra with catless downpipes, no launches did a couple of track days. I think the most stress on the crank hub is when you drive it with DSC and the power cuts on/off 'jerking' the crank hub.

I asked BMW directly and they claim the crankhub has never been updated, superseded or modified.

The plot thickens......

Could you possibly ask how we can go about ordering the part? I guess it may not have filtered through to us yet.

I am really dissapointed to see that it happend to MY18 as well as this not surley proves that the updated bedplate is not the solution.

It would be interesting to get in touch with ARP to see if they can provide some kind of solution with a different grade bolt maybe in combination with some loctite that is less prone to harmonic vibration and getting loose. Just from the top of my head.

My car is still at the shop with just the bolt, hub and washer being replaced as the chain is 100% oem spec so no need to change the chain and the tensioner.
I have the crank fix with 15k miles on it and no issues. A lot of shop cars also with the crank fix without any issues. Safe to say it's a permanent fix now.

If you're going to stay tuned and pay for the labor to replace the bolt and re-time the engine you should've just went for the crank fix from maxpsi.

What was the install time from an independent shop?

For now the plan is to put faith in this updated hub that was installed and just to check torque of the bolt every oil change.

Maximum psi.

Mike is the only guy that will touch my car. He knows our cars inside out.

Shouldn't a 8/17 build have the updated parts?
Did they say yours had the new parts?

Any chance that when they finish repairing a crank hub Bmw puts a softer tune/software on the car? Meaning a zcp tune to a non zcp tune or something more tame? Am I paranoid? Is there a way to tell you even have zcp software/tune?

Added overrun and not being able to modulate valves with car off come to mind.

The problem was in the area where the washer touches the hub, on the hub we took of my car both areas were smooth and my washer broke and the hub rotated about 1cm to the side (you can see the marks on tje washer). Where the new hub has a bit of "sandend" area where when tightened, the washer and hub have higher friction area between them.

The car ia running great now, even the slight rough idile I use to have couple of times is gone. I think it took around 16 hours of labor to replace including retiming the car and bleeding the coolant.

No it wasnt, BMW denied me warranty or any kind of repair because it is a US spec car in Europe.
