Not rare at all. Look at the HPFP for the 335i. Although most of the early adopters had to eat it till 4-5 years later but it eventually got covered lol.

Yes but it took ABC running a story on it on primetime TV to get BMWs attention.

The car ia running great now, even the slight rough idile I use to have couple of times is gone. I think it took around 16 hours of labor to replace including retiming the car and bleeding the coolant.
Was it throwing codes with the rough idle and what were the variables when the rough idle was occurring (i.e. range of rpm’s, throttle position, etc.)? I assume you don’t mean any where else throughout the RPM range.

I have been babying mine because I have a rough idle (not technically and idle) in the 2K to 5K range when I accelerate 60-70%. I had a Dinan Stage 3 tune installed and was at the track when I had a misfire. Replaced all of the plugs and found no issues and had it again the next time I tracked it. The car hasn’t ran smooth since. Even at idle it has a slight idle.

So the saga never ends, now I am getting missfire on cyl1 just when WOT around 5k rpm. The sparks were changed and 6k miles ago. I tried changing the coil but that didnt work, next is to try change the injector.
Does any one have some imput please this is driving me crazy? This happens on stock map and on tuned map as well. I have stock intakes with drop ons.

If someone had a similar experience please let me know.

I would not rule out the spark plug because if it was changed recently. Overtorquing the plug by even 10nm could shorten its life.

A 16' M3 recently entered the family and made a nice 250 mile drive with no faults but after filling up near home it threw camshaft deviation faults for intake and exhaust, and even after clearing they come back within 10 miles of driving. luckily I have access to BMW tools and will be doing it myself, but its a pretty annoying issue nonetheless. Might post a DIY type thread seeing as you can buy all the required tooling for it if someone cared enough to do so.

Would love to see a DIY, and I'm trying to figure out where to get the BMW tools. Any thoughts?
