Just wanted to report out I finally pulled the trigger and purchased an eBay spoiler for my M3. Seems like there has been a lot of controversy on fitment and quality for cheap aftermarket parts, so I'll do my best to report back as soon as i install it with pictures. Fingers crossed because I'm both cheap and a perfectionist which often doesn't mix well...

BTW, the seller is from the US (100% positive feedback) and he back his product and includes free return shipping if I'm not happy. So it really takes the pressure off. I'll report back soon.

The only consistent feedback on fitment and quality has been oem and wanted something a little more aggressive style wise. Even the higher end products such as mode carbon have been hit or miss. Why pay more if you don't have to right? I could be wrong and might be very disappointed. But to me it's worth the risk, especially with a great return policy.

I get where yall are coming from. I don't wear fake clothes and watches. but for something such as a lip, which im going to scrape up also the spoiler can be pulled off and jacked. fake is cool. no one can tell besides people on this fourm.

also let people do to their car as they deem fit? I am kinda excited to see what comes out this

It's interesting that it says it will fit m3 and m4, trunks are different. M4 has csl type trunk when m3 does not. So that a bit weird to me.

In my experience if it's CF it's the same look as oem, if you look under a microscope it's noticeable. So don't be stressed out

Majority of the aftermarket carbon are made in Taiwan and China so who cares if you source directly. The only thing you lose is the quality control, but if you get lucky then more props to you.

Agreed. Quality is comparable to OEM, but quality control is lacking.

To all the naysayers, there's a difference between paying for quality and overpaying.

I bought a mode carbon and it fit like crap and I wasted a lot of money. So I kinda can't blame you.

I just ordered a status gruppe spoiler and I'm crossing my fingers.

I was able to compare a replica spoiler with my OEM M performance spoiler this weekend. I didn't notice the replica was a replica at first until the owner told me. It looked really good. The only difference was that the replica was a tiny bit "thicker". Nothing I would have noticed unless I was comparing them side by side.

One other thing to note was that I have a replica rear diffuser I got 2.5 years ago back when they started making F8x replica parts (2014?). I didn't want the OEM M Performance diffuser because it blocks the kick-trunk open sensor, while the replicas do not. My replica was never perfect... it has tiny issues with the weave and clear coat, most of which nobody would notice unless looking up close (on their knees), but it looks far better than the stock one. I compared mine with my friends replica which he just got a few weeks ago and I thought his was OEM, it was that good. Weave and clear were perfect... he told me fit was perfect as well.

My guess is that it can be hit or miss... maybe they're getting better now that they've been knocking them off for 3 years. Personally, I would still use OEM CF for mirror caps and spoilers, just because they're up high and easy to see any imperfections. For lips and diffusers... replicas without hesitation. My $1k+ mode carbon lip is all scratched up now... I'll never spend that much on a lip.

I wonder why the replica doesn't block the kick function, unless it's fake carbon fiber? Or was the shape different to avoid the sensor (but even then, it's still close enough to the sensor to affect it).

I agree with most guys here, a replica spoiler is nowhere near the OEM fitment and definitely not visually either. I bought a replica rear M performance spoiler out of spite because I had an OEM one that I stupidly Betalinked onto my 335 so there was no removing it and didn't feel like ponying up the $$$ for another one. I installed and removed it after a month and bought a new OEM M Performance. Most of the reps aren't true CF, they are plastic with a thin overlay of carbon (FRP). The weight difference between them is substantial and as someone else mentioned they are thicker on the leading edge closest to the window which I hated. My .02

Most are FRP which is majoritarily plastic with fiber reinforcement so they let the signal through.

Thanks. I really appreciate the feedback. I'll probably learn the hard way... But at a fraction of the cost I'm all in. I've seen many oem spoilers so I think I can make a fair comparrison.

But I did remove my oem spoiler today. It was much easier than I thought, took about 15 minutes. The trick is to pull and stretch the remaining tape torwards you in small chunks. I'll report back soon.

Common guys, we are talking about meaningless bling parts.
They don't have any function other than eye candy, and OEM bling is more expensive that eBay bling.

I'm personally not into either, but if you want some CF decorations, any source will do, as long as it fits.

As others pointed out, eBay fitment will be crap shoot.
But gambling can also be its own kinda fun...

That sucks Tom. Making "copies" is shady business ethics to start with, but stealing photos of other peoples work is criminal - they're misrepresenting their work!

I purchased said "ebay" spoiler when I got my M4. It was not even close to fitting correctly, gaps, varying thickness in leading edge, not even close to fitting. Luckily I was able to share pictures and make a return. I learned my lesson not to cheap out and put a wonky fitting part on such a beautiful car. I quickly replaced it with a Mode Carbon High Kick that fits perfectly.

Good luck with your purchase. It may work out, mine didn't.

First, I started this thread to help save members a little bit of money with an alternative that they would be happy with. Since i started this thread, y'all have been generously yielding me with caution.

Well, go ahead and tell me I told ya so. Aesthetically, it looks great. The weave quality is really really good. Fit, not even close. There is a gap at each end preventing the spoiler from sitting flush on the trunk. I've added a few pics, it was a dry fit and wasn't actually taped on, but no amount of pressure would have got it to sit correctly. I hope this helps others make the determination if saving a few dollars is worth the sacrafice... Enjoy!
