If the F8X is anything like the E9X, those were not a "blank", those were the cornering lamps. When you turn on your flasher or turn the steering wheel, these unite would light up illuminate the front-side of the car. Also, this unit is lit by a halogen bulb, not a xenon.

If those are indeed blank on the F8X, where are the cornering lamps located? Are there any with the xenon?

That's the only option I regret not getting (ok along w full leather, CF interior, 6MT, ...)
The LEDs operate very differently. On low beams, it is the arrays in the top half of all four "circles" that light up. On high beams, the arrays in the bottom half of all 4 "circles also light up. The cornering lamps are a separate array in the little vertical strip to the inside of the headlights.

For the trunk, you have to have comfort access and do it "right" as the post above indicates.

Folding mirrors upon locking have to be coded.

I believe I have Comfort Access. I can put my top up and down with the key fob, and all that. I just cannot get the trunk to open with my foot. I have looked under, and can find no sensor to attempt to activate. Have searched the database in the Driver's Guide app, and it does not mention it. Maybe mine just does not have that. What a great car, though. A true monster in M mode. Was given the green light for a 911 by my wife, but bought this instead. Very happy with that decision.

Do you have the M Performance Diffuser? If so, your kick feature will not work.

cornering lighting is part of Adaptive light control as per manual so it must be done using the only active projector, the outside Xenon one that is used for both low beam and high beam.

Does it happen to be an F83?

I doubt the xenon projector can swivel sufficiently to provide the lighting pattern usually given by the cornering lights.

Goggling a little, it seems that the F3X use the fog lights for cornering. So it would seem that F8X with xenon actually go without cornering lights since they don't have fog lights...

Something was turning durning corners, so if you believe the inner is a blank on Xenon cars, as there is no serviceable part to it, and you say it's not the outer Xenon, so what's going on? I know the Xenon projectors and VLD, that they are capable of left/right, up/down motion as you see in my VLD Startup sequence in my playlist here http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...fky97TsqB6t8S- and reading the ISTA/D document but maybe that's not cornering light? In any case, the inner is a blank

All US spec F80/2 come with the feature standard. No CA needed.

trunk-foot no workie with a vert, you'll just have to open the trunk the old fashioned way. Also, definitely buy smartTOP - seems like a lot of money for nothing, but having gone 3 years without it and now having it ... it's definitely worth it.

Raising up the whole top when it's retracted in the trunk for loading/unloading is an awesome new feature too.

Today I checked if the M4 with DCT would do like my old 335xi automatic.

If you're driving your DCT M3/M4 in automatic mode and you blip the throttle (don't be shy and give a good blip), it will lower the gear for you.

Not super useful but comes handy from time to time while decelerating and stay in automatic mode.

The F8x standard feature set lists: Xenon Adaptive Headlights with dynamic auto-leveling, Corona headlight-rings and Cornering Lights.

As the BMW technology guide explains, "alternatively, the headlights are equipped with an additional lamp."

With Comfort Access, I can raise and lower the top with the key fob....very nice. I suspected the convertible top was the reason I couldn't open the trunk with my foot. Thanks for confirming that. I agree the loading assist feature is really cool. Most of the other features I have learned from this thread were awesome. Might have taken me months had I not read this. Thanks to everyone.

Yes on comfort access, but you cannot raise and lower the top without holding down the remote open/close button - smartTOP eliminates having to hold down the button. You also don't have one-touch open/close from inside, and you also don't have one-touch all windows up from your interior door switch, only all windows down. smartTop lets you close all windows with one-touch.

It also lets you configure all kinds of other stuff including using your comfort access door handles to raise/lower the top (you touch 3 times and viola!), and it's a piece of cake to install. Anyway, like I said, I've had 2 verts now and I feel stupid not having bought it straight-away, really improves convenience on a vert including one that has comfort access.

See video in post above.

So if the F8X inner lenses are blank and it does not have fog lights, where are the cornering lights located ?

Recently learned that you can bypass the rev limiter in P if you put your foot down to the floor (past the resistance point).

However, I have yet to figure out how to put the car in P while the engine is running. I have to shut off the car first and then turn it back on again.
