F80 M3 probably not much - F82 M4 probably YES !!!

Reason:
The E90 M3 has the Coupe Front-End an is bigger than the regular E90 by ~5cm / 4,58m vs. 4.53m ... the F80 M3 seems to have a regular F30 Front-End, the F30 ist 4,62m long and the F80 would be around the same.

All infos quotes that the F32 would have at least the same difference to the E92 aus the F30 has to the E90 ... I guess ~4,70m for the F32 ... the E92 M3 is 4,61m long.

Hopefully the M2 model specs will bring some good news. I guess that will be equivalent in size to the E46. I'm assuming it will be an 3.0litre inline-6 as a direct replacement for the outgoing E82 1M coupe.

worse case scenario, I'll jump boat on my next car. Cayman S sounds just delicious right now!

Nah, it'll be a boosted version of the N20.

Still doubt this because I think it will be a bit underdone for a M car. I would have expected BMW to leave the 4 cylinders for the 1 series, and 2 series should get 6 cylinders as the M1 does now.

Doubt it all you want, but BMW confirmed it months ago:

2-series will be built on the 1-series platform, so there won't be any appreciable difference in size.

I just don't think the market is looking for a M2 coupe 4 cylinder with a high pressure turbo, that's all.

Well then how about a 4 cylinder with TWO high pressure turbos?

I'm not saying I like it, but that's what we're getting.

Then I feel very happy with my recently purchased 2012 135i. I won't feel the need to trade it in 2 years from now.

Do you guys think the F82 M4 (2014 m3) will be smaller than F80 M3?

It'll be close. If you predict the difference using the current generation, then the coupe will be longer (E92M is about 1.4 inches longer than the E90M). But if you predict using the new generation, the coupe may be shorter (F12M is about a half inch shorter than the F10M).

We shall see.

There's a market for an M Car that actually takes some effort to get speed from. I strongly dislike the nature of the N54/N55, the flat torque curve is truly boring and my grandmother could drive one nearly as fast as most folks.

I'd prefer a lighter, peakier car to a heavier, more torquey car. I hope this is where the M2/M4 split lands us, with the choice to pick between two different flavors, not simply the same flavor served up twice.

if the 2014 m3 coupe is longer than the F30 3series now, then for sure Porsche is my choice.
We'll see.
Can't wait for more info.

I can't stand for a 2014 M3 would have a bigger size over E92 M3. If it was, I would definitely choose a massive size of GTR.

Go check out a 335i Sport. It's going to be that size. Lots more interior room than the outgoing M3.

I wish BMW kept the size of the m3 at e46 m3. Thats a perfect size for a coupe.
